FLEX FUEL INSTALLATION...I DID IT!!!

Okay, ok deep breath, listen one thing I know many of you folks on Hearth are IN THE KNOW!, I watched, read, private messaged, and listened for 2 years before taking the plunge! Seems like many of you folks already knew exactly how to do a gasifier installation. I don't know why but in CT I hit dead end after dead end after showing plumbers and hvac guys what I needed done. Every one I came across and its a loooong list of industry veterans found this gasifier boiler idea to be like a foreign language. My whole excitement is because this is NOT my background. One Hvac genius said just switch to propane or buy a top of the line oil boiler. We can do everything for $$$$$$$$$ a number so high I won't repeat it. I even went through 2 electricians because the first guy backed out halfway through. Said he didn't understand the unit so he didn't want to touch it. 2nd guy finally wired things up no big deal. ...The rest a self installation and a blessing in disguise because of the hands on learning, STILL learning...so here is a few random photos...

Thanks I'm still on cloud nine! Didn't want to write a novel but I understated how the pros said from a-z this project was impossible and unrealistic, why don't you scrap that idea and go with propane. Well the brilliant people on hearth knew better! I moved slowly, but I kept moving forward. Back to your question, you pop in the steel grate for either wood or pellet burning. here's the grates https://onedrive.live.com/redir?res...33&authkey=!AG878cne9jfcPBs&ithint=folder,jpg Then on the display you choose either bulk materials for wood gasification, or choose pellets. Hit auto ignite and stare in amazement that this installation really happened! (The company who developed this unit, Solar Focus in Austria Europe, has come out with a newer option that automatically switches over from wood to pellets. (Couldn't get that model here but swapping out an insert grate and pellet slide is easy enough for me). Burning wood only right now. Can NOT believe people really can heat a whole house and hot water with FREE piles of wood. Hearth is an amazing place! Can I get a Hearth.com T shirt

You have to tell me how the pellet and wood gasification work and what it takes to switch! I see the pellet hopper next to the unit. Very awesome that it does both.

the tanks are 220 gallons each. 4 in total. I didn't cut them. I think you may be talking about the picture of the tank laying down on a hand truck? I had to go under some low hanging duct work to get it into the boiler room so that's why it was horizontal (if that's what you were looking at?)

oh ok LOL, yes the tops are very flat. That's the way they were made.

Funny thing is I just started using the moisture meter. It's a nice toy to help best organize your wood piles.
