I had to stop by Stihl in Virginia Beach today for a work-related visit, as it looks like they will soon become a customer of ours. I performed an environmental survey today, as they are buying an instrument for their production facility to use in failure analysis and it is sensitive to things such as vibration, acoustics, and EMI.

Really nice group of folks there. I almost felt bad that my desktop picture on my laptop is about a cord's worth of rounds with my Husky 562XP sitting on top of them. They were good sports about it though - but no free chainsaw offers... ;)
 
Sounds like a good time, and an exciting opportunity! As husky man myself, I understand. I had thoughts on upgrading my 4 year old 365 to a 562XP, how do you like it? Any issues with the Autotune?
 
I am really happy with my 562XP. No issues with the Autotune at all and it seems to be fairly agile based on the conditions outside. I've read where people complained that they were hard to start, but I haven't experienced this at all. I think it's most likely due longtime Husky users being accustomed to the way you used to start a Husky as opposed to the way they new saws work. I really like the RevBoost, as the saw gets up to speed faster when limbing and it's very noticeable over my 450 Rancher. I've got a 20" bar on it and it screams! I haven't made any mods to it yet, and likely won't until after the warranty expires - but as well as it performs I don't think I'll even bother at this point.
 
Surprised they can still build in the US.
 
Were the emissions/noise police there stuffing mufflers?????;lol;lol

SidecarFlip, you raise a good point. I'm surprised the EPA hasn't completely ruined chainsaws yet. I know they've leaned them out a bunch, which is ok if you treat them right they shouldn't blow up.

They will ruin a good percentage of therm (an d motorcycles too), when they roll in the 15% corn alcohol mandate, trust me on that. Why I'm running canned fuel right now. Getting used to fuel in a can b4 it's absolutely necessary.

Around here we have access to 87, 89 and 91 octane fuels, and at select stations like all Shell's for example, the 91 contains no ethanol. I use this exclusively in all my power equipment and atv etc. So far no problems, and even if that mandate e15 here, I would bet the non ethanol variety would still be available for purchase. You can't get non ethanol gas where you are?

My wire argues that my motorcycles aren't small motors. :)
 
Same here I can get 93 ethanol free Citgo about 3 miles away, I think it's worth it. Bought some about a month and half ago for $3.50, not sure what it is now.

I would consider motorcycles to be a small engine. My 800cc atv has only ever seen 91 non ethanol shell. Too much plastic and rubber in the fuel system and it sits too long between uses. It's been my experience that the only vehicles that run properly on e10 are the new ones designed for it, especially e85 vehicles. I had a 2003 Silverado that hated regular. It ran so much better on non ethanol and got a few more mpgs, but it costs more :(
 
I personally don't care for E10 but our '02 Z71 Tahoe has never had any trouble running it but it is a Flex Fuel vehicle designed to run E85. Knock on wood.
