Feeling the Heat

What are people from Ontario burning? What is the best softwood out there with our limited supply?

Home depot has a pellet called Supreme, they are made by LG group that makes LG Granuals for $5.27 a bag, $263 a ton. Once a month they usually have a 10% off a purchase of $450 or more! That works out to only $237 a ton!

Lacwood pellets at 5.00 per bag when you buy a pallet of 65 bags. No oversize and little dust with the batch I got.

Yes very near Hearst. Polar Bear how do you like LaCretes or have you burned any yet?

I have 4 bags of Lacwood left from last year to burn first. Only starting burning yesterday and only for 6 hours. I don't mind the house only being 65 :p

Yeah it is a big stove, spent over a year trying to decide what to get. It was either a Enviro Maxx of the eco 65. Have the plenum kit coming so it should help get the heat upstairs

Have had the stove since Sept and have tried 4 different kinds. Canawicks, Le Cretes, Pinnacles and home depot satisfaction. Wont buy the canawick again unless they are pretty well giving them away. Good heat from the Le Cretes and pinnacles but I pay a premium for them. And the home depots seem decent for the price.

Our stove loves the gildale softwood. I also love not having to worry about where to buy pellets when supplies get low. There were times last year when on short notice I could only get 15 bags, but if I gave them more than a days notice, they would have what we wanted. Really fabulous people to deal with too. Never stopped in to get pellets when I didn't leave with a smile on my face because of jokes and conversation shared. You don't get that service at the big box stores!

Just wanted to follow up after burning Gildale Farms, Pinnacle and Lacwood pellets in our new Enviro P3. The Lacwood pellets from Hurst are performing well above average! Very clean burn, lots of heat and reasonable consumption rate through the stove. Very impressed so far with 9 more bags left in the shed to burn. If this keeps up I will probably pick up a load of them from Home Hardware.

Going to pick up another skid of Lacwood tomorrow. New bags and seem to be even less fines. Then I should be good for the winter with 3 skids in the basement

Lacwoods are going okay, surprised at how much dust is in the bag but the stove seems to eat it up. Averaging a burn pot clean out every day or so, increasing the air slightly has really helped.

Our HD has them for $299/ton. Are they any good this year?
