I called the dealer on Monday and they finally got back to me today. They are going to replace it with the updated version under warranty. According to the tech, Harman added the holes to try to optimize burn but they ended up causing more issues. He said the holes in the side not only cause an erratic flame that can kiss the glass but also weaken the air flow across the igniter. He's been getting calls weekly for over flowing pellets on ignition and failure to ignite.

I have had this same problem with my stove. The burnpot has holes on the side and overflows with pellets and fails to ignite. The times that it does ignite with a bunch of pellets in the burn pot
the flame is huge and scorches the glass. This forum is great I am going to give my dealer a call and see if they will replace it. Ty

Exactly what happens with mine. I've been leaving the stove on room temp manual so I don't have to worry when I'm not home. This past weekend the pot was so full that when it finally did ignite, the pressure from ignition pushed smoke through the door gasket.

I took this last night showing how the flame on the sides like to kiss the glass. I was at about a 45 degree angle to the right of the stove. I can't believe the glass isn't etched yet.

I called my dealer this afternoon. He told me that they would put in a warranty claim to Harman and replace it. He said it should take a couple of weeks.

My dealer said that he could put in non-mirrored glass for an additional like $40-50. He told me this as he was installing the new free mirrored glass. He said the non-mirrored is much easier to clean when hot. You can just wipe it with a dry paper towel. The mirrored one....not so much...but it does look much nicer when the stove is not running.

Harman will replace burn pot with the updated one (no side holes) via an advisory that went out to dealers.
