No i just insulated above with roxul and the back keeps the brick warm on my closed in porch so it is actually bearable in 30 degree temps. I store my wood out there so its nice not being blasted by cold
Its nice because my bedroom is above living room and the chimney runs up the one wall and the wall is warm. So that helps heat up there
