Heating probe sensor

First of all you are posting in the Pellet Pricing section so not many are going to see this here. Hopefully the mods will move it but you should cut and paste your question into the regular pellet forum which is a little further down the page. To answer your question though, yes, you should have a room sensing probe that is probably coiled up somewhere on the back of the stove. It may or may not be connected. It is about 5 feet long with two spade connectors on it to attach to the stove. Also, please click on the link in my signature, grab a cold beverage and read all about how to operate your Harman. You'll have to read it more than once. You bought a great stove so enjoy!

while I am here - the room temp sensor is a short wire/cord. It is probably wound up and hanging on the back or side of your stove.

Harman stoves now seem to not want to operate without it at least being plugged in!? 4 blink code

X 2 on what Bio said. Just experienced this not long ago after doing work on the 45. 4 blinks and not starting. Then I realized I forgot to plug the room sensor back in. Took it off while I was moving it around.

Also on my new 68 the room sensor probe was wire tied into a loop next to the return air but it was not plug into the spade connectors on the back. I think they leave them disconnected during shipping to prevent damage possibly.

Maybe I am misunderstanding something, but I believe the OP is stating the stove works, does not give a code, just doesn't seem to do anything in room temp mode - but they are unsure how to use that mode and don't know where to find the temp sensor on the stove.

Look at the picture Harmanlover attached. That's what you are looking for. It should be attached to the spade connectors on the back of your stove. The connection looks somewhat like a mini electric plug wall outlet. Mine was coiled up and attached to the lower right rear with a zip tie. I have a different model so not sure where yours is exactly but it may be about the same location. You can leave it there for now and can move it later to get results you want.

Make sure that is hooked up. Then for starters flip your igniter toggle up into auto. Set your temp dial to 70, 75, or what you want. Set the feed rate dial to 4. then turn the mode dial to room temp setting the fan where you like. I like high but everyone has a preference and what works for them. After this your stove should run and hold fairly close to the Room temp you picked but could vary depending on what the room sensor is reading hanging there.

You are likely not operating in Room temp because the room sensing probe is not hooked up. By the sounds of the installer being in a hurry and not explaining things says a lot. He might have forgotten to hook up the room temp probe.

Read your manual and the sticky on Harmans above. It will take you a few to let it all come together and sink in. Read, and reread. The more you know and understand about your stove the better off you are.

BTW, Welcome! People are happy to help so don't be shy. Ask questions but try to familiarize yourself first. Let us know how you progress. You will really like your stove.

If you turn it to room temp, and it doesn't seem to do anything, turn the temp dial up to 80 (probably setting #6 or so). Unless it is super warm in your house, that should get it to respond. However, if it already has a good flame when you switch from stove temp, then you won't notice anything different until the stove believes it has reached temp, then it will throttle back and eventually go out until it calls for heat again (and if that is the case, you want to turn the temp dial down to 60 to see any results - just to get an understanding of what it does).

It is possible that the temp probe, if behind your stove, may read very cold (or hot) all the time. In that case, uncoil it and place it in an area to the side of the stove (off the floor and not in the warm air wash from the stove). Don't worry about exact placement, you are just confirming if the stove is responding or not.

Once you confirm that it is working properly in room temp, find a place that you can live with the probe being all the time, and set the temp dial to what you want it to keep, then just feed it pellets.
