2 Quads...which one should I keep, anyone had both?

You need to see if any upgrades have been done to the stove, esp. the control board and wall control. There should be a white label on control board with a srv7000- number. You need at least the 456C board. kap

Did he get any error codes?

There is an upgrade for burnpot,but I don't think there is for control board.I have an 07 and have the upgraded burnpot,but not the board or stat.

I have both and I would dump my mt vernon. Bought it in 2009 and this stove is always giving me errors and trouble. My cb 1200 just runs and runs, it was bought in 2003 and still has the original igniter.

If the dealers didn't keep up with the upgrades, the stove will give you problems. They had control board upgrades thru 2008. All the ones I have kept up on with upgrades are running with no issues. Including mine. I would keep the 1200 too. Parts are cheaper.kap

Sell the Mount Vernon and make $800 or so.

That is music to my ears, one of my biggest concerns when buying my stove was durability not so much all the bells and whistles...

I would stick with the CB 1200 just because it is a known quantity and it works fine for you. With the MT Vernon, it doesn't sound like you have the full history (upgrades, maintenance, etc) and was only picked up because it was a good value (which for $200 I don't blame you). Granted, with some effort, I'm sure you can get the MT Vernon up to date, but with a CB 1200 working fine I wouldn't waste the time. Unless there is some feature that you really want or want the extra horsepower, I would either tinker with it and keep it as a backup or flip it.

206 isn't one of the numbers of a board.

Those non AE stoves were pretty decent units. They quit making them in 06. Parts aren't all that bad for them as far as price goes. Although combustion blowers have taken a jump in price recently. I still have lots of customers with those old Mt Vernon OE's.

if i had that i'd be tempted to hold on to it and install it in the basement as a back up.

I cleaned the firepot holes (lowers were plugged solid) and blew out loads of dust, hair & ???. filled the hopper and turned it on. Started right up & running good. Just had to jump the snap disc for the room blower. After 2 hours and 4 starts there's still no issues. Getting a snap disc today and putting it on CL. Thanks for the help everyone.

My mistake. I didn't see the non- before the AE. It does have the right control box as it is the old style Mt. Vernon.

Now you get to decide if you want to keep it, or sell it again. lol
