Installed today never used VC vent free NG Radiance. Problem we are having is switch on back is not shutting down the fireplace. Wondering what might be the problem?

How did you turn it on?
Switching for gas units is mutually exclusive...
i.e. if you turn it on with one switch (or remote or t-stat) you MUST turn it off the same way.
Is there another mechanism in play here?
Do you have a remote? Is there a technicians switch near the gas valve?

Switch is connected to TPTN and TN on valve .If I disconnect switch and jump wires there is a click in valve but nothing shuts off.I just use the knob on the valve to start and stop the stove. But need to put a thermostat on it to control the heat ,but if switch wont shut it down Im betting the thermostat wont either. Im wondering what in the the valve is preventing it from shutting it down.

TH & TH-TP are the correct terminals, but it's probably hard to read the labels.
Sounds like there is a short somewhere powering the magnets in the valve that control the gas flow.
If you have the manual, disconnect ALL the wiring & start over, according to the schematic.
