Why? Is the pipe stainless steel of just black steel?

Not good. The black adjustable elbows are notorious for leaking and also coming apart in that application. Had to use one myself in an emergency and replaced it with a fixed angle stainless elbow as soon as the season was over.

Those things are usually installed in stove pipes several feet above the stove. Not in the line of fire of the huge heat coming out of the flue collar of an insert or stove on reloads.

Alright, I will definitely be doing that then. Where did you get yours from? My local Home Depot and Lowes do not carry the SS ons in store.

Online Hart's Hearth, Chimney Liner Depot, Rockford Chimney Supply or pretty much any pipe and liner dealer will have them.

Sorry, took the weekend off. Looks like BB has you on the right track. Ask rockford if they can cut you a short piece, it might be advantageous to call around to local stove shops and see if they have any scraps sitting around.

Is an elbow going to be long enough to get you to the flex liner above?

Alright, so I've got it finished. I ordered a short section of flex from Harts Hearth and an appliance adapter and coupler from Amazon. After several cuts from working with the liner after cutting it (yes, even through gloves) and a few bad words, it works like a charm! No smokes and draft is sufficient.

The Century cw2500 is heating fantastic and so glad to have a warm house and excited to save on my gas bills!

Thanks so much to everyone who gave advice and shared!
