Yes and yes. Take off the right rear side panel three 1/4" screws and two just need to be backed out a ways. It is right in the exhaust and held in by a 1/4" screw. Pull it straight out and just wipe it off and clean it. You don't need to replace it if it's working. You could buy one as a back up and if or when yours does head south it's about a 5 minute job total. Getting the new one out, taking the panels off, and replacing everything. Unplug the stove 1st and let it cool so that adds time but the actual ESP replacement is quick and very easy.

Not sure but you likely have the black wire ESP probe so verify that so you get the correct one. Red wired ESP's are usually found on older stoves........but ya never know. I've seen where they have been switched up here or there. That requires different dip switch settings.

Go check it out. You should know these things.

First thing, yes, I got the old part number from my Manual and then confirmed it on the Harman site, (which now has a new updated part number listed). I am the black wire ESP. Second thing is that I am getting the 3 light blink on the Status on the panel. Everything I have read is indicating that I have a faulty probe. My cleaning consisted so far as to vacuuming the ESP clean, nothing on it, but I did not take it out and wipe it down. I also did the reset with the power. No luck. Still blinks 3 times. My next step is to take the probe out and wipe it down before I spend the $70-80. for a new one. I just couldn't find any site or instructions on how to remove the probe. Now I do.......

caseman the only problem you that you have that I can see is that it took you 6-7 years to sign up here!!!! Where have you been? Get some pics up or at least one for your Avatar my man. dpreview.com forums. Every forum under the sun there for cameras and photography, not to mention multi page extensive reviews of camera, lenses etc. You think you can get absorbed in this stuff here at this forum, wait till you get into camera equipment and photography !

Ha! I married my camera expert. She knows about cameras, how to down load photos to sites such as this, then again, she knows that a pellet stove puts out heat and if push comes to shove, she WILL put a bag of pellets in it when running out and I am not home. It is a trade off for me...... I think she has done the loading maybe 3 times ........

On fourth year, looks like I need to replace my flame guide. I see a little burn past the guide onto the back plate.

I took the ESP out and cleaned it. I also took the panel off the side and checked for any loose connections, found nothing loose. I am still getting the 3 blink on the Status light. I take it the next step is replacing the ESP with a new one.
 
That would be my guess. Hey have you tried turning it off and unplugging it? Doing a reset like that. Might be worth a shot. Quick and easy. 3 blinks is the ESP
 
Also check the ESP wire on it's entire length. I have seen where some here mentioned pets or cats have chewed on them. I don't think that's real common and that would be one industrious cat with much determination but anything is possible.

The wire was completely coiled up and has a wire tie from the factory still on it. No problems there. I just did another shut down and restart, still blinking. Must be the ESP. ?????
 
I'd say it might be. So your stove will not run or is it running poorly? Woodman's parts has good pricing on parts. They sell them various places online. Not sure what you dealer sells them for but should stock them also.

They sell the flame guides for $23 too.

The stove is working ok. Putting out the heat, but, as I said several posts ago, the distribution blower fluctuates up and down. New pots ordered for that problem. Stove is set Room Temp, auto ignite, feed rate 3.5. Heats 3 levels to 70deg. not a problem. Just getting the 3 blinks. I have been on the Woodman's site. The dealer in my area has to bring everything in, nothing in stock. I can order parts cheaper though the US, than I can get them for here in Canada.
 
That's odd and not sure what to do about the blinks. The pots are on my to do list in the near future too I think on the PC45. I shut it down one night and noticed the Dist and Exhaust blowers both still running the next morning. I unplugged it and it shut down fine the next time????? Think my switches are going. Did you do the rolling the switches several times? Sometimes that helps them make better contacts. Can't remember if that was suggested.

I have no idea why they would use such cheap quality switches on such a good quality stove. I've seen better knobs on Fischer Price toys..... I think I am going to put in an order tomorrow for some back up parts. If I were you I'd consider a new ESP. You could then install it to see if that fixes the 3 blinks. If not you have a spare ESP ready to go when yours dies. It's a highly recommend almost must have back up part. $70 or so.

I have done every thing that has been suggested on this site, rotate the pots a couple of dozen times, all indications from what has been suggested and from the manual are that the 3 blinks indicates the ESP and nothing else for the code of 3 blinks. I have done the reset as I told you, and cleaned the Esp. So, I will have to order one and try that. This is my first time in 8-9 years of using the stove that I have had these two problems.
 
It's about the time to experience some minor issues I'd say. The ESP will wear out over time. On my Woodmaster OWB (outdoor wood boiler) a thermistor is one of the only two parts I've had to replace and it was in it's 9th heating season last year when I had to. The other was an air intake flapper. The rubber wore off of it.

The thermistor is a probe almost exactly like the Harman ESP probe. They sense and read the heat and are exposed to severe heat. So I would guess you are due for a new one.

For as long as you have used your stove you are doing well on repairs but it is a Harman and they tend to be very dependable. Let me know if that's what it is.
 
Looks like you talked me into it, noticed flame poking through from behind the flame guide the other night. Shut it down today, gave it a cleaning to make sure ash/carbon wasn't keeping the flame guide from setting properly, still have flame behind the flame guide.

Dealer closed now, looks like a Friday trip to the dealer for a new flame guide! Looked back in my records and the last time I replaced was April of 2011. So roughly 2.5 burning seasons out of this flame guide. Not to worried, shouldn't need to crank the stove up since its 43* and raining now with a similar forecast for tomorrow!
 
My P61 is 13 years old. I usually go through 5 or so tons a year and have replaced my flame guide three times so far. Funny thing is my ESP is original. LOL I really need to order one to have on hand.

This will be my 3rd in 7 years, I do about 5 tons a year too.

Oddly I'm on my first igniter and esp probe...maybe I will grab one of each while at the dealer.
