Pictures of maple needed

Do a google image search and it should give you a good idea. If you have to cut it yourself you should be able to tell right away if it's Sugar, or Silver. They cut much different. We will be able to help you determine what it is if you snap a picture of it.
 
What do you have to compare these pictures to? Rounds with bark, butt ends, freshly cut butt ends, inside of splits, fresh splits, twigs with buds and leaf scars, leaves?

Note that some maples samples can be difficult to ID.
 
Nope I know what I picked up was not maple.its definetly hardwood , just don't know which one. Has a smooth type of bark. It's not even round , it's like rifled shape. I will take pictures Asap.
