Hi- I have a Model 81 Buck Stove. The door handle is loose and needs adjusting. I assume all Buck Stoves have the same handle design. Any advice on best way to tighten the handle? Thanks.

I'm not a buck stove expert, but I can't recall an adjustment for these. Maybe some pics of the assembly and where it latches may help?

If so, and you don't have something that latches on the outside, as the link I provided warns about, is that phillips screw on the end tight? Where are you seeing play/ Does the cast latch end seem worn?
Could the handle be fine yet the door gasket needs replacement as it's "over-squished" with time and worn enough that the handle's pinch point doesn't have enough angle to make a good tight fit anymore?

If you open your door you will see a set screw on the handle shaft. Loosen it and then tighten the screw on the end to take out too much play. Re-tighten set screw
Hi Jolby- my model has 2 set screws on the handle shaft, was not sure in which order these should be tightened. Thanks.
I have a Buck 81 and the handle kept loosening also and I kept tightening the screw on the end to no avail. It wasn't until I got down there to look and found the small set screw on the side of the shaft ....tightened it with an L wrench and its held now for over a year.
Also, there is a Phillips screw in the center that will back out. Tighten both until the handle feels firm but not stiff. Also, a dab of loctite doesn't hurt.
