Quadrafire 1000 problem

Unplug stove before working in the cabinet. Have you checked the vacuum switch? Ensure tubing is not cracked/broken, barb is clean, switch itself is functioning. Page 12 on the manual. The other item to check would be the snap disc #3. Try reset. Both of these can be temporarily bypassed to test if the component is functioning

I'm figuring vacuum switch or something that is interferring with vacuum (hopper, door gaskets, etc.)

Make sure your thermocouple is clean, that the end is in contact with its ceramic cover and the entire assembly is properly positioned over the burn pot.

What is the reference that the end of the thermocouple is in contact with the ceramic cover?

It will not read correct temps if it is not touching the inside end of the cover, and stop the feeding process. It can also be full of ash, or be bad.kap

Usually if there is a vac issue, the stove won't even feed the initial drop. But, sometimes if they get going, the extra draw from heat will keep them going, once things get warm. Still worthwhile to make sure all of the exhaust path is clear. #3 snap disc if acting up , would shut whole stove down. #2 snap disc however will just shut down the auger. I would also try checking wire connections on that disc and vac switch for loose or dirty connections. Reset button also. Also the thermocouple as suggested above. kap

Just wondering because there is nothing in my Quad CB1200i manual about making sure its touching the inside end of the cover or anything about cleaning it as Smokey suggested above.

They don't put everything in the owners manual. kap

DB general house keeping kind of requires it. It can't read the temperature correctly if it is ash covered, having the end (which is what counts) in contact with the cover prevents ash from getting on it and as well as shielding the junction.from damage.

Open the RIGHT side of the stove, start the unit and watch the two LED's on the control box (only seen with the stove open)

The green lamp will light when the stove gets a fire in the pot, and the red one will light when the fire is at temperature.

If the fire pot is steel and has developed a crack near the top RH side near the TC the incoming air through the crack will keep the flame away from the TC enough and cool things enough to stop the TC from reaching temp.

Watch the LED'S and let us know

If the Red one does not light, then the fire will go out in a short time
