Today I cleaned out my Englander 25 pdvc while I had company over. I vacuumed the ash out of the side pockets. Removed the wear plate and cleaned out the burn plate. Removed the deflection plate and cleaned the channels. Then took my friend outside and proceeded in doing the leaf blower trick. He was amazed at the cloud that came out of it. I put the chimney back together. Then went back into the house and put the stove back together and fired it up. Went outside to put the leaf blower back in the shed.
By this time I noticed I had smoke coming out of the top of the chimney showing that the stove had fired up. Went back inside and noticed that the flame coming out of the burn pot was really lazy and was blowing from right to left. I checked everything to see if I had an air leak going on. Did not find anything. So I shut the stove down again and grabbed the vacuum. Cleaned out the burn pot again. Then I noticed that while I was talking apparently I was not paying to much attention to detail. In my absent mind I put the wear plated back in backwards.:p I reinstalled the wear plate in the correct position and all is happy and fine. Keep warm next week. Really cold weather to hit the Northeast.

Just cleaned Helga a day or two ago, but i think i'll do it again tomorrow before this happens -

St_Earl I'll let you deal with that. The dense fog advisories are up at the moment and the -28::F wind chill warnings are up for just north of us.
 
I have caught myself doing stupid things plenty of times; I almost always try to put the flame guide on upside down on the Harman. And today, while giving the Hastings a quick clean, I put everything together, almost hit the on button, and realized the shaker plate wasn't in the stove.

Of course, since you had a witness, that is way worse than doing something like that in private!

A lot of cleaning going on today. I've done worse things like hanging a huge clump of keys on a hook on one of my truck racks. Looked all over for them for days. I was leaving someplace later that week and a guy goes, hey your keys are hanging there pointing at them. Then I suddenly remembered where I had stuck them after frantically looking for days. Had duplicates but still.......Don't even want to tell you about the time I set my phone on the car roof. Found that too about 35-40 MPH later. Besides, you caught yours pretty quickly and can blame it on your buddy. Cleaning is a serious business here and he distracted you. The way I see it is that it's all his fault. For sure!;lol

Bad part was they were right in front of my face and was in and out of the truck. Yup, I'm stupid!

That's exactly why I cleaned mine out today. Seeing it was 50 degrees out I knew the house wasn't going to cool down much. I did clean it New Years day. But when I saw the weather report I knew the stove would not get shut down till next weekend. Wonder if I have to go to work Tuesday,Wednesday or Thursday. I work out on Nantucket and have to fly there every day. Tuesday suppose to get snow and Wed. and Thurs.with the extreme cold.One thing about the island. You can not hid from the wind. It goes right through you.
 
I was waiting for it to warm up here today, that didn't happen, maybe I can clean my bucket of parts stove tomorrow. I won't have to clear snow and ice from the yard.
 
Cold enough here. I surely do not envy you all up there. Going to be cold and nasty here but not witch's ta ta cold. BURRRRRRR! Good luck with that stuff!

Lmao!!! So true... Her hormones changed the damn jet steam! Lol she will have the stove jacked and the heating blanket on high lol

Might have been the pickles and ice cream farts messing those jet streams up. Or the hot peppers an Hershey bars. LOL! I remember some bizarre food combinations back then. I almost wanted to puke watching her mix and match food at times. It was beyond me.

My wife uses a blanket in the dang summer when the AC is on at times. She hates the cold. Being pregnant brought some real fun stuff out. It's been a decade since the last kid here. Keep Mama warm and remember the Yes Dear if you know what's good for ya!

Just did something stupid myself last night. Went by the stove and noticed that the flame was really lazy. Ran outside to check the vent to make sure it wasn't blocked. It wasn't. Came back inside to start tearing the stove apart and noticed that the ash pan had come unlatched. Must of accidentally hit it with my foot when I filled her up.
 
It's going to be getting colder by the hour her for the next 3 day. Come Thursday morning they say my area will be minus 5 but the wind will be blowing. Told my boss this morning when I got in. That I was going to take Thursday off. He asked me why. Well with a wind chill of minus 30 or below. Who is going to be working out side. Not me !;em
