What is the best floor fan to move cold air?

I use an 8" desk fan, doesn't over power things like a big box fan, stays more out of the way as well.

Small, inexpensive and low pro with low air flow. You want to develop a circulating convection not a wind tunnel. I think more people have problems from too much air flow than not enough. Patience is the key - leave it on low and let the cool displacing warm develop a convection to get your even distribution. JMO

The small fan on my hearth has been replaced with an even smaller one that is tower in design and black with low air flow. That one pictured is at the end of the hall sending cool air towards the stove room. On low you can barely feel the air flow in the house but my thermometers tell me it is circulating well.

Low profile blower fans seem to work well. We made one from an old furnace blower and speed control. Here's a link to something similar:

It works well enough on low and is really quiet on low. I have a really bad layout for whole house heating but this fan really help warm my second floor.

I've had it about 4 seasons now with out any problems. At this point I would say it was worth the money.

I use it on the floor and blow from cold area to stove.
