Temps? Harman P43 or P61 pellet consumption?

I usually keep the house 72-74. I don't like to be cold.

In the last 24 - 36 hours with just the stove (Ashley AP5660L) I've managed to keep the house above 76F in the living room, back room where the stove is the temp there is 86+, upstairs in the 70's, and that's with the outside temps at 10F - 3F at night. Not used the oil heat so far except when cleaning the stove and that's only for 1 hour tops.

Burning Fireside Ultra's at the moment with the cold snap, once the temp outside gets to 20F or higher I'll switch back to Nature's Own / Maine's Choice mixture (50/50).

I do have the HVAC fan for the oil furnace on manual / override (oil furnace is off) to circulate the heated air in the house from the pellet stove.

Run the humidifier here at night as the LR humidity gets down (23-25% now so running in the day too). The outer reaches of our house get about an 8 - 10 lower difference but stove room is in the 70s. House configuration doesn't allow for good air flow from the stove room... If you kept the house a little warmer during the day, you likely would be better able to reach your higher target temps - just means a few more pellets! Holding temps get more challenging when the temp drops and the wind picks up...

Researching before you buy is an excellent idea - but you still can get surprises! Post a bit more info on your house set-up - sq. ft., rough lay-out, basement/crawl space, etc. Will get better responses and can compare to what others have for a more realistic outcome.

since you already have the whitfield, assuming you are shooting for the same temp, in the same space you're likely looking at a simimlar consumption with either the P43, or P61. same temp=same energy requirements=same amount of fuel, give or a a hair according to the weather. that said, if you're looking to do more heating, then you can expect to use more pellets. for full time heating, I like to use the 1 ton per 500 sq ft per heating season as my "rule of thumb" calculator.

My Harman is in an unfinished basement, not the living area. That being said, I have it set at between 72 & 75 room temp for the downstairs. It takes a lot of the load off the smaller upstairs stove (St. Croix), in keeping the mid-temp at 73 in office/kitchen (75 in living room and 71 in bedrooms).

Last year I tried the Harman as an only stove set at stove temp 75, and the air flow in my house, even with fans, did not allow for my comfort on the living floor; downstairs was 80+, living room/kitchen areas were 62 - 72 (depending on outside temp) and at times I supplemented with the boiler. The bedrooms (over garage) were 40s-50s, depending on temp, and I actually slept on the couch all of last winter.

I went thru 1-3 bags/day last year in the Harman, completely dependent on outside temp and wind speed. I expect that won't change with the 2 stoves now - just my comfort level with the upstairs. So far I haven't slept on the couch at all - well, except a couple of times when I conked out while watching TV, but I have always waken up later and been happy to make it to a nice warm bedroom.

Keep the house at 69 to 70f. Harman Accentra Insert. Use oil for bedrooms of large ranch. Burn about a bag per day. Be careful trying for pellet use comparisons. As stoves and conditions vary so will consumption.
