In previous years we would be spending around $80/mo heating with the heat pump plus an extra $70/mo supplementing with propane. Last night it got down to 11F. About as low as it's ever been in upstate SC. Our wood stove kept our whole house warm with no supplemental heat needed. My wife and I have been extremely happy this Winter heating with wood from our woodlot in our new wood stove. :)

South Carolina saw 11 degree temps? That's nuts! Glad the stove is working out. First year we are using ours too. Our temps here on long island were a tad bit lower.
 
ME TOO! House hasn't dropped below 70 at all since the end of October! Its usually 72-74. Even with over night lows in the single digits BELOW zero.

Isn't it awesome?!! Before we'd have the thermostat set at 67F or even 65F just to not feel guilty about the next power bill. Now the place is so warm we've got friends and relatives who come over just to warm up by the stove for a few hours before they go back home to their cold house. ;em

This is our years year in the new house. Heat with wood ONLY!! So far loving the decision and wont go back to a furnace as our old house had. LOVE IT! More work but worth it!

7acres, I'm just north of you in the western NC mountains. We had 1 degree this morning and the woodstove had the house at 68 when I woke up. Absolutely love the heat and that I'm not spending $1,700 in propane any more.
 
Wow, Toddnic, that is chilly even for the hills of NC.
 
I am up in the NC mountains, we had 5 degrees west of Asheville. Tomorrow morning I will be driving down to Greer SC to go to work.
Some cold weather for Dixie.

Yep, it's not going to be above freezing for the next couple of days. That's not normal for our western NC mountains. Definitely giving the woodstove a workout. Thankfully it is keeping the house warm even in zero degree weather.
