Cab 50 Wont run unless i take side panel off?

There is a an area under the ash pan that has the air intake hole, make certain that it is cleaned out sometimes it gets full of ash when the ash pan is removed for dumping.

Also make certain any gasket on the ash pan door is still good.

it there an OAK in this equation?
if so, is the inlet obstructed?

Which side panel are you removing?

broken wire maybe? Modern cheap azzed conductors have a bad habit of breaking under the insulation....

Sounds like maybe the hopper lid finally closes enough to get that little magnet close enough to close the hopper lid switch.

The hopper switch is located in a similar location and is activated by a magnet attached to the Hopper Lid.

From page 9 of the manual there are pictures as well.

Lights from the control box please, the really simple things seemed to be ruled out.

What have you got for a flame height when the stove is on medium?

And please tell us what you have done in the way of cleaning the stove on both the combustion side and the convection side.

Yes I'm a grumpy ole pita but I'm trying to rule out the normal culprits which boil down to crud in the works.

There is an auto reset fuel interrupter in the Quad system and I suspect this is true with the CABs (but haven't read enough about the CABs to have much stick in the memory department). That system reacts to heat when it senses a possible over fire situation it stops pellet feed. So anything in that snap disc circuit that causes it to open up will stop the feed. Then we have those capacitors in the auger circuit that could enter into the act, the auger systems have been known to run backwards, stop, or run in the correct direction that changes on each feed cycle. Haven't heard of them being triggered in the manner you are talking about.

We also have SidecarFlip's comment on wiring.

We have seen loose connections and poor contact on control box connectors before.

Please don't play with any of the control system with the stove plugged in.

We had a similar issue and our fix was to change out the vent cap. Check to see if your vent cap isn't obstructed. I usually tap all the ash off when I clean out the vent.

Now that the stove system is somewhat clean check the flame height against what is in the stove manual under flame height adjustment.

You likely need to do further cleaning.

To do the cleaning you follow the exhaust systems air pathway and and clean it all the way to and including the vent termination.

The pathway starts just above the burn pot, you'll need a combustion blower gasket because you need to remove the blower's fan assembly from the cavity it sits in and will likely destroy the gasket unless you are very careful.

It was running wide open but would creat all that black soot so then i adjusted the feed pellet rod and got it running so that the inside of the stove is white like its burning better. We took off the combustion blower and cleaned all the fins and the cavity it sits in all ready.

Did you get from there back into the fire box?

Have you tested all gaskets?

The only gasket that i checked and did was the door gasket i took the washer off the handle to make a tighter seal. My Cab 50 doesn't have an ash pan seal.

But I believe there is a burn pot gasket.

Back, sorry for the delay, had to give the eyes a rest. Too much screen time.

You said that the soot appears on high burn and then you mentioned the feed adjustment the only setting that the feed adjustment is to be made is on high.

You must also take your time in doing the adjustment because it is going to take several minutes for each adjustment to have an effect on the burn do to the adjusted feed amount has to get up the auger to drop down to the burn pot. It is very easy to over or undershoot on the feed adjustment.

When you overshoot (feed gate open too much) you are headed into the black on the firebox. This is one indicator of a mismatched fuel/air ratio.

I also want to know if you did any work on your house over the summer.

Have you pulled out your combustion blower, as Smokey asked? It sure sounds like you aren't getting enough air through the burn pot.
