I am at a step back and meditate point. I thought I would be able to maintain this from inside the house. I have the tools. If, after a month, I need to go up on the roof and clean the cap that is not something I'm going to be able to maintain which does not bode well for project wood stove.
I hope it's that simple, but don't forget the other suggestions if you do not believe the stove is operating to its potential
well I went to relight it and smoke came back into my living room....so I have had enough at this point. I can't have an appliance I have to get onto the roof constantly either.

I'd wait a minute or 2 ,this happened to me last year too .Same sort of conditions. The draft just stalled .Has not happened since "knock Wood" Also I don"t open Both doors till I know Its drafting

Move the walk through, then move the stove. You'll like the stove and the draft A lot and have a walk through to like too

I check mine with binoculars from the ground, only go up if I have to. The ones with screens are the ones that tend to get build up, if you have one with a screen that gets build up just take the screen off or get another style cap that's not prone to build up.

If that is the build up at the bottom, the top is prolly caked. Best check your wood, or burn hotter.

Spray the chimney cap with a garden hose. It will clear it of soot build up and your draft will be fine. Same thing happened to me last night.
These are all good suggestions. I have the stove down right now and may not fire it up again this winter. I will buy another two cord of wood and stack it so I am ready when next year rolls around...and work on some things with the stove as well. Lots of decisions to be made still....I will keep learning. I still have a cord of wood so a couple more would be a good start for next year. I can't afford to buy all the wood I need for two years right now...and just burning the wet wood I have seems so counterproductive.
