Just a video clip that might be of general interest.

Some comments on both topics will be appreciated. Also if someone experimented with the thermal images application for smart phone and the Seek add-on, please let us know.

Thanks,

Henri.

Big stack robber, great way to create creosote. And the fireplace is still sucking air out of the house by the 100's of cfm. The modern woodstove evolved to solve this problem and a class A chimney is the modern chimney.

The $199 Seek Thermal for cellphones looks pretty nifty though.

Seek works decently well. No where near as good as a true ir camera , but they do do an ok job as long as you just need a "good" idea and not gnatts arse accurate.

And +1 to begreen. Creosote making machine, and you're still losing lots of heat.

Yeah that is a horrible idea with very little if any heat gain and lots of down sides

So your going to open your house to the interior of the flue cavity and add a fan to it? Should get tons of heat. How many BTU's in your average wooden structure?:ZZZ

I think that he need some insight, look @ 21:10.
Also he was testing the temperature to fan speed function which was pretty good.

Thanks.
