We know what we're getting once an actually P.O gets dropped. Then it shows in the computer the P.O number, the vendor and the ETA. But the majority of employees may not know what brand it is because it's the vendor name listed, not the brand name on the bag. So for example if they're getting Pres-To-Log they show up as Lignetics in the computer. Somersets show as Somerset, Green Supreme show as New England Wood Pellet, North American show Atlantic Forest Product, etc... Buyers don't like paying for Somersets to get shipped to NY much either - we lose a lot of money on Somersets. So we get them very rarely.

I understand now. Thanks for the clarification. The times I have called, it seemed like I was getting blown off. I'll keep trying. I'd buy a flatbed load of Somersets if they were available.

Jason: I have said the same thing, and have talk to the salesperson Sandy, about the cost. It would start around $5,500 give or take a few. Fork lift, storage, and it
goes on and on. Get your Lowes Mgr. to order a truck for you and put his mark up on them, and set back with the heat.
If you want the truck load call them direct and ask for Sandy
YOUR GOOD TO GO
Enjoy

I have talked to management at lowes and HD many times about getting better qualiy pellets. I am told stores have no say and they never know what brands are coming in, different brands every load. Same with corporate, apparently they put out bids and go with the low balls.
Ditto

Again as I said earlier in the thread - they know what's coming in, but only once a P.O drops in the system, that means an order has been allocated to the store. The P.O has paperwork involved that a box stores receiving office keeps on record - that paperwork doesn't just say pellets lol, it has the vendor information. So when stores say they don't know what's coming in, they might just mean there are no current p.o's in the system, OR you spoke to an employee who doesn't know how to look that information up. If you called my store while I was working, I can tell you whats coming in, and the ETA shown in the computer for when they are supposed to arrive because I know how to look that up. Not all employees do or care to put forth that extra effort when a customer asks. They do put out bids I'm sure, but not for every load. I guarantee you we would NEVER get Somersets if that were the case. You are correct though, for the most part stores do not have control over what pellets come in, and store managers typically aren't going to care enough either because pellets don't make the store any money. They're good for volume, terrible for margin. The best a store can do to get you the pellets you want is get in touch with whoever the buyer is, and ask if they can get a truck to the store of the brand you want.
