So, you want to be able to start a fire, in an unattended area, by timer or remote and have it go on it's own?!?! I would try arsonist.com maybe?
There are just so many reasons this is a bad idea....
Besides, if it "burns out" around midnight. I'm sure there's still coals or embers of some sort left, if you loaded it up again with kindling, wouldn't it just start to smolder and reignite at some point? You'd have to shovel out all the coals and everything prior to loading it up for the next morning.

I got the idea one night after I loaded the stove, getting it ready for the morning. As you mentioned, an ember must have been left and it smoldered for some hours before catching. When I entered in the morning it was nice and warm. But this is hit or miss.
