My 20 plus year old Husqvarna Snow blower is still running but prior to running the blower for storm cleanup yesterday the auger wouldn't turn. I stock belts and friction disk but don't stock oddball hardware. After a cold teardown, I found a broken custom spring had failed. I start looking on various websites and the blower is old enough that most don't list parts or the ones that do list the part as no longer available.

I expect I will figure a way around the part by reengineering but boy its annoying when the equipment could easily run long past the point where they stock parts for it.

The case is starting to rust out in a few spots so I guess its time to look for a new one before next winter. Worse case is I have a nice horizontal shaft motor for future projects with a 4 speed transmission for moving it around.

It doesn't owe me a lot, I had a dirt driveway for half its life and the rocks were hard on it.

20 years is a good lifespan, todays will be dead in 5 years. I would keep it running until a catastrophic failure.

If you can keep the old machine running, those older machine were built solid.
I am running this a Haan snow giant, built in the early 70's I believe.

Have you checked with a authorized Husqvarna dealer?
