burn in fires are history. Here is our F55 cruising at 500+ secondaries are kicking in and it's getting toasty! Will take some time to learn everything but our wood burning venture is in full gear!

Nice! I love the clean glass too! You must have some well seasoned wood available.

When we first decided to become wood burners I tried to be smart. I purchased what I thought would be a one year supply of good split seasoned oak. 3 cords. The. I cut and split another years worth myself. About 3 more. I figure you should get the wood first so it has time to season properly. Now I can start to rotate wood and always have stuff that's about 20% MC and seasoned about 1 1/2 years. Made sense to me anyway.
My neighbors all laughed when I was collecting wood a year and a half ago with no stove but I think they get it now. ;-)

Tonight will be the good one as I had to open the windows wide. She off gassed and smoked pretty good about 500* I lost a lot of heat but it always expected :)
 
Does this seem like a low enough coal bed to reload or should I let it coal all the way down? It's about 2" deep pretty red. Running about 250*

250F should be low enough for a reload. Give it a try and let us know how it works out. Or rake the coals forward, put a couple 2" splits on them and open up the air to burn it down quicker while still putting out some heat.
 
I raked all the coals forward into a heap and it flared right up. I left the air control open for just a bit and it jumped back to 300* I'm going to let it roll about another 30 min then try for an afternoon reload. I was starting from a cold stove so I had some kindling and paper in there next time I should be able to stuff another 3 splits in. ;-)

I just have anxious stovitis! Lol

you normally choke it all the way down? Or leave it 1/4 open? Trying to keep secondaries rolling.
 
House is 3105sqft. But we are not heating the finished basement which leaves the main floor and upstairs, 2105 sqft. It's 70 downstairs and 73 upstairs. This load has been going for about 2 1/2 hours. I'd say it's half done. Still have secondaries on third and second row of combuster.
 
I'll load it for the night around 9:30 and let her roll. Three loads, 36 splits a day on average all things equal. 10 ricks should do me per winter.

What is your current outdoor temp?
 
35 degrees wind speed 2mph

Of course 70 is relative. The kitchen and dining room are 69 the entryway is 70 the stove room (great room) is 74

We have the heat pump set on 60
