Just checked and the temp is now -8 F and going down to a forecast -16 F without the wind. Winter storm warning in effect now. Then tomorrow we'll get a little dusting of 5-8" of snow with a high of around 5 F. What's new?? Just winter in the subarctic.

I have to say this winter was/is nowhere as bad as last winter temp or snow wise, at least here. Last winter, my antifreeze in the jalopy got slushy twice and the battery froze solid, that hasn't happened this year....yet.:)

You might get more than 5-8 watching storm tracker on the Weather Channel. Least we got ours on the weekend.

Through it all, both my Kubota's start right up, no issue. Can't speak for the chainsaws, they are put away for warm weather.

When you clean the garage with some snow and there's steam coming off the cement floor.

-39*c -44*c with windchill

Just got back from a walk with the dog. We had a couple of weeks of warmer temps but the thermometer has dropped again ... You know it's cold when:

5. The deck board makes a cracking noise when you step on it...

Deck cracks and bangs loud enough to scare you - while you are in the house.

Our lawn mower will need her hooves trimmed and a dose of wormer. Use the lawn tractor to level off the fertilizer mounds.
Now this thread is getting off topic too:)

When my deck does a snap crackle pop.. Open the door and cats run the other way. I have to pick up my dachshund because her feet are cold.

Wow that brings back my childhood memories. My parents always had at least two dachshund's running around the house. We lived in the mountains in deep snow country.

Our golden retriever is currently enjoying the cold temps and snow piling up on her as she is resting in the snow on the back deck. If I go to the door she runs down stairs wanting me to throw one of her many toys in her toy box so she can go find it in in the snow. She never knows when someone may throw something for her to retrieve but she is always ready.

We seem to get more winter storms out of the South in recent years and fewer Canadian clippers. We got about 7 inches of snow while points just south of us near the Wisconsin-Illinois border got a foot or more. Seven is good enough to ski on!

Got down to zero overnight. Meh.

Interestingly, the storm is tracking east, but the snow is going west.
Doing the same thing here this morning
Now how many times will the snow blower blow it back into my face? this one wont be fun

We were lucky and it was all cold rain but sleet and ice over night with temps in the teens. It's a toasty 26* here now which will be the high but back into the 30's and 40's. I think some of you will be getting another good shot of snow. Like you all need more of the white death.

At this point I am finished with the cold and this winter hasn't been bad. Last year here was brutally cold and snowy. I was working outside the entire winter between 10 to 12 hr. days. Miserable! Hated every frozen minute of it too.

My 3 Mini Dachshunds are the same way, we shovel a path from the kitchen door to a shoveled area in the yard. Otherwise these just go right outside the door.

Nowhere near that bad here. But we have one of those corn-treat cylinders screwed to a tree facing the living room window, a treat for the squirrels. One stayed on there eating so long I was wondering if his saliva froze and he was stuck there. Nope, I guess he's just hungry and it's easier than digging through the snow for food.
