I helped a buddy of mine install a used 6039 yesterday. He just called and upon plugging the unit in the auger motor runs continuously. He told me, even if he pushes the off button it still runs. Has anyone seen this before? I did search and the closest I could find was an open ended thread.

Sounds like a bad board to me! Does the control board display anything when he plugs it in?

+1 on a fried board.

Thats the problem with a used stove. Always plug it in and make sure the board didn't have a coronary prior to paying for it. Time to call USSC or get on the website and order up a new one. I'd get a late model 4 button with up to date firmware.

I'd also go over the stove carefully and check the drives, oil the bearings and clean all the motors and fans (while you wai9t for a new 'brain' to arrive. Make sure you use a surge protector with the new board too.

Has he downloaded and read the manual? No fried board. Nothing wrong with buying a used stove. Remind him to put some pellets in the box hit the On button and light them well so the proof of fire will be met and see how it goes. He should be good to start adjusting after that.

If the feed auger runs cointinuously on startup with no panel ligjhts, the board has a hangover. On a 39 or 41, proof of fire is the low limit snap disc. Nothing more. The manual is online at www.ussc.com by the way. All USSC manuals are online there.

Good time to loose the 3 button board and step up to a 4 button with improved firmware.

What actually occurs is the built into the board timer sequence must detect the low limit snap disc closure within a pre determined time interval. If it don't, the board begins the shutdown sequence.

Th continually running feed auger is indicative of board issues.

Where is a good place to purchase a board, that has reasonable prices? He traded work for the stove. It was in the guys house when he bought it. I know that guy did not try to use it.

Rural King USED TO have the cheapest board available..but that coulda changed by now. For the most, current up-to-date pricing, contact USSC directly Or maybe OWEN will chime in here for ya. Expect to pay anywhere between 350-500 for a new board.
