New Harman P68 not heating as much as I had hoped!

Hello,
We bought the p 68 and installedI it this past Saturday. Running it continuously since then and our living room is still not as warm as we had hoped. We are in the high 60s. Settings are: feed rate at 4. Temp dial at 90. Room temp dial on max. Stove has the OAK, pellets are softwood from local producer. Eco flame. The glass is getting smokey at the top as well. When we first fired it up the flame was so bright it was like looking at a sparkler almost. It's not like that anymore. Any clues why we aren't getting the heat we need? Thank you for your advice!
 
I'm not an expert but more information would be useful. Did you do the install? Where did you run room sensor wire assuming you are in room temperature mode?
 
Need more info. Feed rate 4 is fine for now, leave it there.

You are running it in Room Temp Mode and I assume the Room temp Probe is connected ? Where in the room is the other end of the Room temp Probe currently located ? I as k this because if the probe is set too close to the hot stove sides or in the air stream of the convection blower then the stove will go into early shut down.

You are running in Room Temp Mode, is the igniter switch tuned on or off ?

How big is the room and how big is your house ?

What speed is your fan set at ?

Explain your installation. Is this stove set up in an existing chimney or through the wall. How long are the lengths of pipe more or less ?

Installed ourselves, by an HVAC tech and a master mechanic. Sensor in glass of ice. Igniter is on manual. Living room is 700 sq ft with vaulted ceiling. House is about 2700 sq ft but we prefer to leave the bedrooms closed so sq ft to heat is more like 1800. Fan is on max setting. I ran the stove all night at 75 degrees with the sensor on the floor ( cool stone hearth) and is am our furnace kicked on, it was set at 56. Darned chilly it was!

Yes chilly alright. Just for your information 4 ft is the max run for a 3" pipe run horizontally. Is this a new stove or used ?

How long has the probe been in the ice ?

Ok, have you tried Stove Temp Mode or what ever they call it these days ? Mode/fan dial facing down at any rate and with the igniter on ?

We didn't exceed the 4' max, and it's a 4" pipe since we're higher here in Colorado. :D Probe has been in the ice water since about 9:30, the living room is getting warmer, but not by much. It's now 50 deg. outside so that could be why. Tried the stove temp mode yesterday - constant feed mode - it seemed to be a bit better but not much. I called my sales guy, yes this is a new stove, and he said he'd have their service department call me, still waiting on the call. They don't give out the service dept. number, go figa!
 
How does your vent termination look like? Do you have anything at the end that may affect air flow - make sure that is free and you have good draft.

OAK placement is critical - make sure you are not too close to the exhaust vent pulling bad air in. if all is fine on venting and the OAK, its possible you have an actual stove issue (maybe bad ESP?). Double check your install before you call for service as a bad install will VOID your warranty.
 
Just offhand a few things you mentioned indicate your pellets may be a big part of the problem. That stove in that area should roast you!

Have you double checked that your probe wire is indeed connected to the stove, both leads ? One hasn't gotten knocked off by chance ?

Barring that, I default to that service department you called.
 
Are there any ceiling fans in the vaulted room? That would help to move the hot air down. I have 3 fans in my house and that is plenty to move the warmer air around.

Maybe but there isn't a full flame, the stove is in low burn it sounds like. With the room temp set to 90 you should be close to able to fry an egg on a P68.

Service guy called and decided it was starving for air. The flapper in the back of the stove's intake must have been stuck, because as soon as we took off the OAK and replaced it, the stove started burning like it should. It's still not roasting us out though, and yes, I have a ceiling fan to push the warm air back down. Waiting to hear from the service guy to see how to figure out if the stove is working to full capacity or if it's a faulty stove - not sure how that can be, it's a pretty straightforward design. Set it to 90 deg. last night for 3.5 hours and we were still not cozy. Have it on at 75 deg today, it's 51 outside, hoping to get everything warm and be able to maintain it. Thanks to all of you for the help and support, I will keep you posted on what i find out.
