Went through this whole drill six or seven years ago when I posted on this subject. Boiled three samples of our tap/well water with three different heat sources and using three different thermometers. All started boiling between 225 and 230.

So I use 228.
To add to this a "degree or two", all thermometers do not give the same readings, best bet is astm certified

Kinda feelin like a wedding crasher here all of a sudden, sittin at a table with some long lost relatives...

Nice thread , but I gotta ask where u all seperated at birth or what?;lol I thought I recognized you webby just can't place from where .

This appears to be a thread for the good ole' boys, but it makes me happy about having an insulated liner installed before I fired up my stove forty-two days ago. I don't think the upside down brown icicles sitting on the masonry crown of my chimney indicate any problems and that's the only issue I see. That said, having one of those thermal guns you guys shoot all over the place would be kinda fun too.

Where have you been? I've missed you. Rick

Spending far to much time chained to the computer for grad school, hence avoiding the computer otherwise. The good news is I graduate in May (if my research is accepted). I'll have to make an update post in the nook
