I just bought a dozen bags at TSC in Merrimack, NH. UPC code came back as "Maine Woods" when I scanned.

Have burned about two dozen different brands over the ten years of burning. Everything from top shelf stuff to appling county which was like burning dog crap. Currently green supreme from Home Depot and have no complaints.

So these Maine Woods pellets blow the Oakie Golds out of the water as far as heat. They do make more ash and its darker but holy chit its like night and day. I dont think I will ever get the Oakie golds again, I had to several times crank the stove up when it was super cold but with the Maine Woods it has no issues.

Stay away from the Thera Glo from Home Depot. They are very ashy and create a nasty black build up in my stove.
I have never had any problems with the Stove Chow from HD.
And what stove would that be? Time to fill in the signature:)

For some odd reason my local HD offered Pres-to-Logs pellets this season @$250/ton. A non-regional (PNW) mediocre brand. In past years they only sold Blazers, a local Doug Fir pellet @$190/ton.

I knew they would not sell many of those P-to-L's as most pellet customers are well versed on price and quality when shopping for pellets.

Last week I was in HD and noticed they had Blazers @ $4.19/bag. I grabbed a few bags to try in my beater Whitfield Quest. Ahhh.......nice burning stuff! My stash is getting low so I well probably finish the season with Blazers.
DMZ,
Do u have any idea how desired Blazers are here 3000 miles away and u bought a few bags?
Some how Home depot brought a tractor load here in December and sold them for the same price as the other stuff which is over double what you paid.
Best pellets by far that HD ever sold...

I know that DF pellets are expensive east of the Mississippi. Out here we can get mix conifer pellets for <$200/ton and DF pellets for around $225/ton. I normally burn Blue Mt super premies or Bear Mt, both DF pellets.

That was why I had to scratch my head when HD offered a, IMO, a 2nd tier, hardwood pellet at such a high price. Must be due to shipping them over the Rockies?

did you get the main woods pellets from the guy on Handle rd? I have one tone left (1/2 AWF white pine and 1/2 green supreme) and thinking about grabbing another ton just to be safe.

I still have 2 tons of Okie Golds yet to go. I've been burning the Maine Woods (TSC branded) the last couple of days, and they seem to burn a little hotter, but I certainly haven't measured it. They look a little smaller than the Okies, and they do seem to feed faster at the same Dial-A-Fire (auger) setting than the Okies, so it would make sense if they were hotter.

Honestly, there are so many variables one day to the next, let alone one stove to the next I don't know how to compare. As long as they don't crud up my stove, and generate enough heat, that's all I care about. At $300/ton I doubt I'll buy the Okie Golds again next year.

I would have to agree !! Bought 8 tons on the spot

A lot of it depends on your stove and how much you are willing to clean it. I've tried a lot of different kinds of pellets in my pdvc. Last 2-3 years the local HD has been stocking green supremes. I havent had any problems with them so far. Been using them exclusively because they are easily available, a decent price, heat the house and HD's delivery charge is a flat fee for any amount of pellets you order. I have the room to stock up for multiple years. So i order 8-10 tons at a time and get them delivered to my house and pushed into my garage for $65.00. pretty good deal. normally he can push in 6 tons (2 rows of 3) and the rest i stack on top of what he was able to push in.

Dang, wish I had the room to store that much, then I wouldn't mind paying a delivery fee. However, I can only store a little over 2 tons so struggle to convince myself the fee would be worth it.

I've burned the following through a Napoleon NPS40

1 Ton : Green Supremes
1 Ton : Stove Chow

The supreme were okay, lasted awhile weren't too dirty got em from tractor supply I'm Enfield. The stove chows aren't as good, burnt through these like crazy and trashed my stove. I picked up 10 bags of Hamers from Hawthorns in Enfield, they were selling them at 290 a ton last week - had 18 tons left. I went in yesterday and they're at a 10 bag max.

Everyone has a diffrent opinion. HD in Bethlehem Pa selling chow this year..actually burned hotter and cleaner than my dealers (wood pellet co)...CC Lumber..next year will be a diffrent story I'm sure..grab a few bags and try them...Tractor Suppy here..ugh...horrible..
