Lg vs. North Country pellets

Never tried LG. Been meaning to give them a try. Picked up 2 tons of LaCrete (very similar to North Country) and people have been praising them on here.

I just started burning LG Granules. See my post (posted today).

I've burned both and would burn either (what ever you can get cheaper). Last year I burned 2 ton of North Country and would have bought them again this year but my Pellet House didn't like the bad packaging last year so did not order them for this season. I have 5.5ton of LG stacked in the basement for this season

Ideally, buy 5-10 bags of a few different kinds to see what your stove likes. When you search this forum, you'll find some folks like a particular pellet while others despise the same ones. Others will chime in that last year a particular brand was good but this year they are bad. All part of the fun.

LG Granules here for my Harman Accentra insert. Low ash, good heat.

I bought 4 different pellets this year, one of them being North Country. In the past, I've been a big fan of Vermont pellets, but like many others, I've noticed a decline in their quality. The North Country has been burning like the original Vermont pellet - lots of heat, light, fluffy ash. I just wish they'd use a different pellet bag. I know all pellets have sawdust, but their clear bags put it right in front of my face. Bottom line, great pellet.

LG is an excellent pellet with significantly lower ash than the box store pellets. Pacific Clean Fire softwood has slightly less ash. I have never tried North Country.

North country. Hands down.

I picked up a ton of Okanagan Douglas Fir pellets. Talk about low ash. These are now my favorites.

I clean & service stoves, so I see a lot of different pellets out there. There is a "Super Premium" pellet rating (vs. Premium pellet). To qualify as a Super Premium, the ash has to be .5% or less. LG is a softwood Super Premium pellet (8,500 BTU's & 0.5% ash). North Country is also a Super Premium pellet ((8,800 BTU's & .34% ash). A little more heat, & a little less ash.

The North County pellets are working really well for my application. Right there with the La Cretes.
I have had good results with LG's as well....
