About all I know is they are calling people and telling them to set an adjustment a certain way and clean pot very well each day.Kind of sounds like they are working on it and want as few occurances as possible until a fix comes.I would assume it is like smokey said,pile of pellets smoldering.

I was called last night, right after I had finished doing a thorough cleaning (including pulling the plate behind the normal burn area and vacuuming out the pins), the timing was creepy. They wanted me to turn the trim down to -4... I told them that from my understanding this would drastically reduce heat output and they agreed this was the case. I told them I bought this stove to heat a 3300 sq. ft. house and that wasn't going to fly... Got a call from my dealer today saying they needed to come by to make an adjustment. Missed their hours today, but if their plan is to turn it down to -4 they can either pay my oil bill or swap the stove out for one that delivers as promised.

Our stove works well in general, but if we don't pull the firepot ash dump lever for about 18 hours it will back up and start burning up into the channel that pellets dump down. The ash isn't filling the firepot to the point where it physically stacks on it, just seems like more ash in the firepot results in the pellets clogging in the feed tube. Happens about twice a week, and its somewhat scary seeing burning pellets in the feed tube that leads to the hopper. It has never traveled up to the hopper, probably due to lack of oxygen with the hopper seal, but still a bit scary.

The area we have our stove in is relatively safe - high ceiling, tile floor on a slab, stone wall behind, but still does not make me comfortable - we have small children who leave random things everywhere and there is trim within a couple feet of the stove.

I explained the backing up issue to the lady on the phone, she seemed alarmed. Not sure if this is any relation to the "blown glass" issue, but it backs up into the feed tube on us a couple times a week... not good. These stoves cost way too much to have issues like this.
 
I've run my stove 24/7 for the past 3 months and have never seen any issues with pellets clogging or burning up the feed tube. I have my trim set on -4 since it gives me a cleaner burn and I've not experienced any diminished heat output either (3400 sf house). I give it a quick clean (dump pot, quick scrape--2 minutes) once a day, and a more thorough clean once every week or two. It's a good 6 inch drop from the feed tube to the fire pot--I can't picture pellets stacking up and burning that high. My daily ash buildup is never more than an inch high in the bottom of the pot.
 
If the stove is being over fed,or the pot not dumped at regular intervals, it will back up the feed tube.

Thanks for the report. Although I don't own one, I have followed the couple of previous posts avidly. Hopefully the company has a handle on the issue and a fix in the works.
 
Never thought id say I'm thankful for my autoclean. Hopefully more e2 owners chime in.
 
Quadrafire also called me a few days ago and told me to adjust the trim setting to -4 also until they reach a conclusion . my stove seems like it didn't effect the heat output that I can tell

How old is your stove? Wondering if it is a problem with a specific batch or a design/software problem with the model?

Tried to ask danni1085 and Hobokenkitchen for manufacture date but never heard back:( When did the model come out? start of 2014?
 
The manual was printed in Feb. 2014 so it probably wasn't shipping until late Spring or in the Summer.
 
Received our E2 in the store in late March, early April. The stove has performed extremely well. Its as quiet or better than the MV AE, which resides next to it. The E2 is one of our store heaters. We have had little issue with it, occasional beeps (meaning remote has lost touch with the receiver) and the occasional missed ignition if the burnpot was not cleaned out properly, accompanied with the burnpot full of pellets. Overall, was very alarmed when first heard of glass blowing out. It wasn't on here, but from a customer. Everyone assumed a burnpot cleanliness issue. It does seem when burning that the flame is not as vigorous as even the AE. We have adjusted the air trim to -4 per HHT's request, the issue obviously has the upper levels attention and is being investigated. The stove for the most part has been well received, we'll wait and see how things settle out. Most new stoves have growing pains, but this is really a bad one. Hopefully no one gets hurt- Folks keep the burnpot clean. IMO, it does cut the heat output with -4, but unknown how much. The stove certainly feels not as warm.

I'm interested to read this. I feel vindicated from the few who seemed determined it was our own fault. Lol.
 
Hi Hoboken, I for one, do not think you were probably doing anything wrong. If a stove has an occasional problem, usually there are multiple issues that add to the bad event happening. (IE, stove being dirty, venting not correct or as safe as it could be, operating the stove in an unsafe manner, etc) What I do think is maybe we have a stove that has to be watched and kept in a more than normally clean condition. To me that spells more investigation is needed. Glad to know you and your family weren't seriously hurt. Good luck.

Didn't think for a minute it was your fault HK. Pellet stove should not blow up. If they get a belly ache they should just shut down.

That goofy, frequent cleaning cycle is doing it.

I think most of us agree with BB Hoboken, not your fault. Not sure the purge has anything to do with it. The purge expels ash and debris out of the burn pot with a high combustion fan speed, while feeding at a low rate. The fire never goes out in the one at the store, it just gets smaller for the cycle. It is meant to give the exhaust a quick blow through while expelling debris out of the burn pot- many pellet stoves in the past have had a cleansing cycle. We'll have to wait for a verdict, lets hope its quick and no one gets hurt.
