Got me an 30-NC project. Right now it's sitting in the back of my truck. It's true, this thing is built like a tank. I think I got a fair deal at 350 bucks. It needs paint, gaskets and the baffle boards are useable but dinged up. The build date is 7/09. I don't believe it was used too much because there is still paint on the bricks and the latch doesn't have a grove worn in it. Just curious what your date code was and when these were fist produced. I'll get some pics soon.

Good deal. Note that the stove model is 30-NC.

Thanks begreen, I fixed it. I've got it all apart now and found a few things. The front two tubes are arched up not down. I did also find the blast beads in the bottom. Kind of wonder if this stuff is under the damper control making it noisy.

It might be a little sputter of slag that needs scraping off in that area. Grab a mirror and work the control to see if that's the case.
