I stack under the deck on the back porch, a 6' W x 12' L x 6' H, and that gets me through the winter.
Works for me, and doesn't come close to taking up the space of a garage bay.
Do what works for you. My setup works great for me.
I should post a pic of my back yard. The snow, combined with all the snow that has come off the back roof, has made it so that the back porch steps are buried . . . I now have a slight incline of packed down snow leading from my back porch to the woodshed.

Just stacked about two cords under my deck today. Could fit about two more. Thinking about putting corregated roofing under the deck and doing away with the tarp
2 cords should get you through.
I put a canvas tarp on top of the deck boards above. Keep 90% of the water out, a few runs & drips here and there, but not enough to effect the wood burning.
Got another 10 inches on Saturday, crazy winds last night and this morning. Its a good thing i like winter! going to attempt to clear the 3-4 feet off the roof after work tonight. wish me luck
