Why is stove temp mode cooler than room temp mode in 52i?

I've read many of 52i owners run their Accentra in stove temp mode for a more even burn with less cycling when it's really cold. I have been burning mostly in room temp mode but did try a couple of times to switch modes. In each instance, room temps dropped about five degrees. I did adjust the dial to six but still couldn't get the room that warm. As soon as I switched back to temp mode, the room temp rose steadily back to its former comfortable level. I'm guessing that the ESP probe could be dirty but think I'll wait until it's warmer before pulling out the stove to check. Anyone else notice this?

It has been in auto-mode. I set it 0n 6 but I think the ESP is dirty as I went through some horrible bags of Green Supreme. Should have shucked them but I'm cheap and sifted the pellets but the ash, fines and sawdust were awful. Room temp mode works fine so I don't mind waiting until Spring to do a thorough clean-out.

In simplistic terms. Stove Temp mode only wants to satisfy the ESP. Room Temp works within the confines of the ESP as well but it also has to satisfy the Room Temp probe. In Room Temp mode the stack temp can hit 500 deg in so doing. In Stove Temp mode it never will hit 500 deg unless the stove is cranked to the max, since 500 deg is max stack temp. All of this is assuming correct cleanings and the stove all up to snuff adjustment wise. Much depends on other conditions in the house as well.

Makes perfect sense. Thanks.
