Whitfield WP2 Insert advice sought

Greetings,

I joined this forum to look for some input on my old Whitfield Advantage II insert WP2 SN 8255). It came with the house I bought a few years ago. What I was wondering about were...

Best current sources of spare parts--such as Cerra board etc. And whether or not it's possible to convert this form of stove from its burn pot to an ultra grate and if that's advisable. (the burn pot has a few places where the holes are disintegrating and letting pellets through.)

Is it possible to retro fit ignitors on these old stoves?

The motors and fans are all of the shelf and there are couple places that can repair those simple control boards.
A lot of Whit owners here on the site. Theres a couple of stove parts suppliers that have new pots for the stove. There used to be some conversion kits for Whit stoves but remember the company has changed hands twice in as many years and the stove is pushing couple decades old.

Have had decent luck with Mt. View Hearth Products, out of MT as I recall. believe one of their folks is on here a bit. Good stock of Whit parts, and knowledgable if help needed.
 
Fellow Whit owner here. Yes, you can convert to the upgraded burn pot with the ultra grate, just make sure you get the adapter plate for the stove floor. You will probably have to trim the bottom of the fire bricks slightly to accommodate the adapter plate. I actually still have the original burn pot that is ducted to the air plenum and has the removable longer, but plan to convert to the upgraded pot this off season.
 
Just peeked at Mt View Hearth. Prices seem fair and he's a member, so I'll use him now.
 
Our Whit has the ultra grate, and I had to add a stainless plate with many many holes to allow burning nut shells.

As mentioned, it's an easy swap

Hello Johannesen, welcome to the forum. There is a retrofit kit adding an igniter to some of the Advantage and Quest stoves.
They have this upgrade kit at WoodHeatStoves ( $281 ). According to the info on their website it should only be possible on Advantage II-T stoves with serial no. 75864 & higher. $281 for the igniter upgrade kit can buy you a lot of firestarters and even several propane torches. Many years ago I unplugged the igniter on my Quest Plus stove, and I haven't missed that slow and smoking start up.
An igniter pulls 400 Watts for 15 minutes at each start up. This adds up on the electric bill.
