Hey folks, first time poster here... I'm waiting for my Prescott EXL to be delivered, hopefully next week.

I need some straight (as in not the sales guy) advice on what pellets to burn. The stove store folks (Hearth-Works, Reading MA) tell me that all the Lowes / HD pellets are not worth burning as they contain lots of binding material.

I've called a few places so far, and there are too many options to choose from.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, I can't wait to get this baby installed and warm up our 125yo house!

Hey there welcome to the forum!
If those prices from the link you included
are for a ton shipped to your home then
they might be a good option for you.

I'm on the third season heating with a Prescott EXP.
I've burned lots of different pellets in this thing,
including those Granules LG and now have
3 tons of the New England Wood Pellets listed
there. Both burn good in this stove.
In fact every brand I've tried burn good in this stove.
A couple of years ago I got a ton of Stove Chow
pellets from Home Depot and they were awesome
so I wouldn't say that is 100% true of the big box stores.
Better prices can be had from the places that will
deliver, such as the one you posted a link to.

Pelletsales.com is where I got mine this year and
last year.
You can get an instant quote on their web site.
Look forward to pics and hearing what you think of the
stove. I love mine.

Thanks for the reply, we're really looking forward to the Prescott. I'm jealous of your big ash drawer, but my wife wanted the leg kit. I think I'm going to order a ton of the New England Wood Pellets and see how it goes. Did you have to do any additional work with the damper on your stove? Also, do you have the outside air vent installed?

Thanks!

The damper is open just a hair (from factory) and has been working fine
this way since 11/05. I've run at least a half dozen different
brands of pellets through it since then with no trouble.

We didn't install the OAK and don't seem to have any
problems as a result. I liked the leg kit too but the huge
ash pan won me over especially since I'm the one who
cleans the stove.

Heh... I have to clean the stove and she STILL got the leg kit!!!

Hi all - I just bought a Osburn Hybrid 45. Should be delivered next week. Has anyone set one up in a basement. If so could you tell me how to setup threw a window. I bought the pipe kit from Aubuchon Hardware store. Any help would be appreciated.

lippy you should start a new thread with your specific installation question
otherwise nobody is going to notice it hidden here.

Mooney, that's what I meant... your wife would quickly change her mind about
the leg kit if SHE had to clean the stove. My brother has never once cleaned it
and it's only the two of us that live here.

Go to the main page of the Pellet Mill & Corn Crib and at the top right there is a "New Topic" button. Press that and fill in your subject then type your question. How big is the window you're wanting to go out? Whats outside the window? How much clearance from the ground to the window is there? Is it a window in a window well or above grade? Explain your set up a little better and I'm sure myself or any number of other members will be able to help.
