Looks like something that will go out of style very fast. Heck, my gas stove does the same thing and can heat-up supper

Did anyone find out what the "ecologically green" fuel is? I'm wondering if it's something like modified sterno.

Yeah. It just has to be "jell fuel". Stuff costs a fortune and just produces light.

EDIT: Just found it. It is denatured alcohol

Yep, jell fuel , same stuff, gotta love what people will buy. :bug:

It's supposed to be Jell Fuel; can you just imagine what some rocket scientist will try to burn in there when they are out of "fuel" and want a little ambiance. That could be a Darwin Award starter kit.

Ethanol is a jellied fuel? So wonder my car hiccups! :bug:

This is what the site really said:

The EcoSmart™ Fire was one of the first brands of ethanol fuelled fireplaces to enter what is now a vastly competitive and growing global market. As with most markets, the solid foundations and product design principles researched and developed by entrepreneurial companies like ours for several years, are quickly piggy backed by companies wishing to cash in on what they see as the next great wave.

Fully aware of the world-class level of its products and certain of its place as a leader in the industry, the Fire Company Pty Ltd has backed up its leadership status by undertaking and completing conformance requirements for Quality Management System Standard AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 through Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an independent foundation with the objective of safeguarding life, property, and the environment.

dang, if i was loaded and living in my penthouse, I'd be the first sucker to grab that.
who knows what else i couild burn in there.

The stuff is denatured alcohol, which is exactly what we use in lightweight hiking trips for stoves, and in older boat stoves. It works, but it does have an odor. Personally, the implementation shown as a "fireplace" is pretty cheesy.

Stoveguy... you're right, it is a sterno stove... but they are probably selling it for a lot more money.
