You would know by looking at it

ok it looked fine when I put auger motor in

how do I build a testing wire to run auger motor? just use an old extension cord and put the ends on it that I need to connect to it ?

Yep. Even an old lamp wire will work. I am guessing that if it ran with your help, the auger motor isn't doing too well. Usually if the capacitor is going, it starts reversing.

ok working with old power cord I have black white and green wires the wire adapter /plug that came with new auger motor has white black and red

do I need to worry about the red wire or just connect white to white black to black and try it?

didnt do anything with the red wire tested the new auger motor thats in the stove same thing it hums but doesnt move but I turned it with my fingers

tested the old auger motor on the floor and it ran fine tried stopping it with my fingers and couldnt

so is there any instructions for tearing down an auger motor?

cant believe a brand new motor only worked for a couple days and now its broke

ok hate to admit this auger is working fine set screw came loose and I was freakin shocked when I found it because I remember cranking that sucker down and thinking I was gonna break the allen wrench or strip the threads

and I'll admit I was drinking at the time so I must have tightened it down on the round part of the shaft and not the flat part

stove is up and running this was an expensive mistake

There's a lot of us that's been burned that way... BTW, in future, try turning auger screw by hand with no pellets in place- that would have found your loose allen screw. I recently fixed a 1200 CB quickly by doing that simple check. Glad its working for you, that old girl is still quite a good stove.

You shouldn't be hating the stove any more, as it wasn't its fault.

Glad you got it going. You're gonna like that stove. I have one I took apart about 4 years ago. I took pictures of how all the wires went together before disassembly. Then my phone broke and I couldn't retrieve them. Thats why i was asking if you could get pics while you had her apart. It really is a good stove but one word of caution....dont run it wide open for extended periods. You can warp the heat exchanger tubes and the scraper wont slide across them anymore. Hopefully ill get mine back together.some.day. Meanwhile I'm very happy with my Cumberland.

p.s. Drinking is an expensive hobby isnt it? LOL

I get a case of beer once every 2 months or so and its strange most of the time Im a lazy sob but for some reason when drinking after about the 3rd or 4th one I always end up getting off my ass and tinkering with something

the auger set screw thing was the beer and from working on it holding it in my hands and not on the workbench the dam thing moved on me while tightening it

I can take pics if needed but not sure it will help I've already seen pics online from that side of the stove with side covers off online and there are youtube videos too

nah thats ok, thanks anyway. I'll have a gander at you tube, didnt think of that.

If your problem comes back and you find the screw loose, never know, maybe it wasn't the drinking, you can add a drop of thread lock on the threads. If you do this don't go overboard as it can be hard to get off the next time. If it got to the point that thread lock was needed I would replace the screw with a new one prior to putting it back in. Thread lock can be bought at any big box hardware store or a automotive store. You want the color, which I believe is blue, that can be removed.

I really hope your next post is how much you like your stove as I like mine. I'm looking for a new convection motor as mine after 10 years seem to be rattling at different times.

I did use locktight on it my brotherinlaw gave me a tube of it its not the liquid stuff Ive used before but its a tube like chapstick so its a paste

stove is working fine even with the crappy pellets Im using I had about 1o bags on a pallet outside covered up and theyve been there at least 3 yrs lost 3 bags because they are completely saturated with moisture and frozen solid the other bags had some puffy pellets but the stove is running fine just wonder how much electricity it uses

Roughly 4.1 amps to start, and 1.1 amps to run.

update the control box that I fried is now fixed friend of mine looked at it and found that a PCB mount fuse was blown, he temporarily soldered in a jumper wire and it works

will be ordering the new PCB fuse so he can put it in

oh well its a good day anyway girlfriend paid me back $1,500 that I thought I would never see again and Im home waiting for a yamaha vmax to be delivered. Bike wrecked and the frame was bent, only has a little over 3,000 miles on it ,basically buying it just for the motor ,but there are a lot of good parts on it and I have an 86 vmax with motor that has spun bearing in it that I might put the motor in or might just sell off parts to make a profit

also have a 95 vmax that has 25,000 miles and runs great

other toys are 89 pontiac turbo trans am -not running has rod knock from too much boost too many modifications to list previous owner was running mid 10's in the 1/4 mile with a smaller turbo and injectors than I have on it

2 Honda XR650R's

daily driver is 2002 chevy avalanche

beater car is 98 Honda civic

I'm going to hijack your thread to ask how you like your 650R's. Had a 350R many years ago that was fun when you could keep the trans shifting shaft together. Had it replaced 2 times in the first year and then a good fried got tired of looking at it in his garage and took it all apart and finally fixed it. Believe he welded the 2 piece shaft together once it was in the case. It was a very fun bike that I sold for more then I paid for it new. Wish I still had it.

I would see if your friend wants to make a little money fixing folks's control boxes. kap
