We cleaned the chimney this weekend, yes there was a little soot, about 1/4 to 1/3 the amount we got with the old stove. big difference we burned twice as wood cause of the cold conditions last winter & this fall. The best part is we used so little LP gas maybe 60 gallons? It heats so much better than the old one! The wife says we should replace the fireplace grate blower & Ahrens ceramic liner with a Quadra Fire insert.

Thanks!

If I could have worked out the corner heat shields I would have had an IR. I was just days from pulling the trigger on one. Great looking and strong heater.

I read a bunch of posts here before buying the stove, keep an eye the forum for new posts about IR just in case there is a problem might be able to prevent.
I don't think I mention how easy it was to clean, it almost makes you think you forgot something ? yes it is that easy!

Looking for some ideas!
nothing has changed on the installation, just tonite it seems the fire is not under control,
flue temps are higher but not excessive, but small charges of wood, cause heats so well.
When the doors are open the fire calms down? I've looked to see if something stands out but?
everything looks and feels the same? It has outside air feed. no wind to speak of has been burning
fine today. Something changed, door seals . gaskets look fine, never have turned the handle too tight .
My says she didn't do anything but add a couple of pcs of wood..
I'm lost if it was a gasket I would think it would be slow change? 1st though was the wood? but next
charge was good stuff, burned real fast. Don't know what to look for?
Need Help! of course it is going to be a cold one tonite! yes looked at the booklet not much help!

ok think I found it the ash door gasket wasn't right! door wasn't closed. nothing like laying on your belly to get a good look!
It sort of dawned on me why it would burn faster with the doors closed, burn up.... yea that's the ticket.... learn from your mistakes!

Glad you sorted it out. Another Isle Royale properly belching out heat again. :)

Yes working well! it seems the wife cleaned the ashes out, she said she didn't but the pile of ashes in the coal bucket says different!
I checked my lp tank to see how much has been used, 10-12% that is about 1/4 what we used in a normal winter.
We finally got a break in the cold, 60 the last couple of days! 50-60 for a week or more forecast.
Now the wife said we should get a Quadrafire insert for the fireplace! need to see if they have one that would fit. We have a Victorian oak mantle & ahrens lined exterior brick chimney. have a grate heater evenglo? no where near the heat out put! oh and it;s no fun to clean the smoke chamber!!!
