I've had the fan kit on for a month or so and I believe it was rattling from the start. It only seems to do it when running on high but it's very annoying. It only seems to be the fan closest to the thermostat. I've tried tightening the screws but nothing seems to help. If I put my hand with a little pressure on the side which is rattling it stops. Is one of the fans faulty? Is there a fix? Should I replace it? Anyone had this happen to them?

I don't often run it in high and even when I need to I tend to turn it down as to avoid the annoying noisy rattle.

Thanks for any help.

Can you see if a fan blade is hitting a wire or something? Can you see what's rattling? There's really not much in there to rattle if the screws are tight. It could be a motor that's out of balance, I've had that happen on a Princess blower.

I had the same issue, the blower wheels don't seem to be perfectly balanced from the factory so they sometimes get a little noisy. Tighten everything up best you can, there are some tutorials out there about balancing blower but they are kind of a pain due to the small size of the fans on the stoves. Most of those tutorials are for air handler sized blowers.

BKVP has posted about some of the fans warping.. might want to call him up and see if your batch was affected.

I turned it on high and shined a flashlight to have a look. Definitely not hitting a wire. And I'm actually not sure it's the fan but something inside the stove near the thermostat? Any idea what that could be??

Either way, if it's rattling something in there it must be out of balance. Does it stop if you put your hand on the blower housing?

Yes. If I put weight on the blower housing or on the too of the stove near where the fan connects to the stove it stops.

If your fan housing attaches the same way as on my princess, 2 screws at the top and none on the bottom, then it's the bracket on the stove where the fan housing attaches at the bottom. It's not holding the fan housing tight enough against the stove. Mine rattled the same way,I put a self tapping screw through the holding bracket into the fan housing.

I found that shimming helps. I used pennies. (dimes work too)
