Alright guys. I've got a 2200 square ft house (1100 on top 1100 in basement) with a two car attached garage. My local cb dealer came by this afternoon and told me he usually recommends the 2400 but he thought the 1450 would be fine for our house. I told him someday in the long range future I might build a small barn to possibly heat but that would probably be along time. After he left I was thinking of maybe heating my attached garage for now though. So my question for you all. Will the 1450 heat my house and garage or should I go with the 2400? First year in this house. Not been a terribly cold winter but I figure I've used average of 5 gal of propane per day. Now that's heating house only and not attached garage. Thanks for the info!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I'd recommend neither. Search this site, you'll find some cb owners with not much good to say. Don't jump into it, do research, there are many better choices out there.

^ agreed. Unless you want to burn mass quantities of wood, do some research and get something else.
Thanks guys! I've done a lot of research already and will continue. The way I've been looking at it is I've got a central boiler dealer 15 mins away and the next closest is a hardy dealer that is close to an hour and a half away. Everybody around me has central boilers and are very pleased with their boilers along with their dealer service. If they've had a problem the dealer has done his best to take care of them. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, if I am please say so. I know I've seen a lot of unhappy people and a lot of happy people also with their cb. Thanks again!
While dealer support and service is important, it's should not be the only consideration....check out Portage and Main, most folks are happy with them...Also check out the Garn Jr.....lastly, it's a big investment, really spend some time reading these forums....

I've needed ONE part from the dealer in 3 years. A phone call, and it was here in a couple days. Please don't just buy a CB because you have a 'dealer' close by. REALLY consider if you want an OWB. Please read a lot on this site.

I have a CB dealer 5 minutes from me, it was the first boiler I considered. I'm so thankful I didn't jump into the decision. It doesn't make sense to pay just as much for a low tech inefficient boiler. I hear of guys burning 12 to 20 cords.
Okay let me ask you guys this. Is the thermoPex from central boiler as good as they brag it up to be?

The Thermopex is great, the boiler not so much so... I have a C.B. dealer 25 minute from me. I did buy thermopex from them. The dealer for the boiler I bought is about 400 miles from me. Only time ive needed a part I had it in two days. Im SO glad i didn't get a C.B. I have a friend with one and he burns a unreal amount of wood.

The 'best' solution IMO for getting the wood burning outside the house is an indoor gasifying boiler in an outbuilding, along with the entire winters wood. With storage tied in - preferably the storage in the house, but it could go in the outbuilding also. Everything insulated. (Make it big enough & you've got a heated shop or mancave out there too). But that will require a fair amount of DIY knowledge & ambition to get in place & done up. Which not everyone has, or has the time for. So the +/-'s will need to be weighed re. simpler/easier install vs. more wood (considerably more in some cases) to get ready to burn every year & feeding etc. of it.
Check into Logstor from Urecon. It has a thicker outer case, cost the same or less than thermopex and has larger insided diameter of the pex.

My favorite topic. I bought a CB E2400 and, for the most part, it has performed pretty well. Now as far as the customer service/warranty from CB....ugh, they suck. Maple1 said it best and that is what I now wish I had done...3000 sf plus 600 sf garage with eclassic 2400 = 10 dry cord a season....I guess I could have done better...Plus, I would drive all day to get some decent customer service....
