are they the green or orange lettered bags-orange from Idaho which is what I bought a ton of and have a few bags left. Good heat ash ok.

Just bought 10 bags at my local Ace on Monday, my first time with Lignetics. They are green lettered . Seem to be burning pretty well but not keeping me up to temp like the Hamers.I have burned a ton of Old Dominions this past season and these Lignetics seem very similar in burn , ash, color, smell and heat output . I will buy again for sure as it seems these are often available in my area. BUT will be on the lookout for one ton of Hamers for the serious cold snaps.

The TSC brand sold locally are Ligs. Burn pretty well with decent heat a acceptable ash. The local Ace also selling Ligs BUT at 8.48 a bag I decided not worth buying.

I just bought a ton, the green lettered bag, which are supposedly from the West Virginia plant. So far, I'm loving them!

I've had decent luck with them, though they are variable. Last year the late season Lignetics I bought were darker in color and didn't burn as clean. The last ton I bought were TSC and the pallet wrapping clearly stated they came from Lignetics. These actually didn't burn as nice as some TSC pellets I bought in September in a slightly different bag (another supplier?)

From what I hear, the Lignetics from the West Virginia plant are the more desirable ones. Any input on that?

Tony, did you burn some yet?

I've had two batches this year. First batch were almost orange in color, lots of heat, minimal ash, seemed to be softwood or at least a blend. They were a little 'tacky' though. They didn't slide down the hopper as readily as most pellets, never caused a problem, just an observation I made. Second batch are much darker in color, decent heat, lots more ash, definitley hardwood.

went to a pellet dealer who let's you trade for pellets he doesn't have just to try out..
I gave him 2 bags of Blazers and 3 bags of Energex Golden Pellets..
came home with 2 Bags of Okanagan Platinums, 1 bag Okanagan Golds, 1 Bag American wood fibers White Pine, 1 bag of Dry Creek Hardwoods, 1 bag Forrest pride.
he gave me 1 extra bag for making an hour trip.
Aside from probably less ash with the softwoods, With a Harman controlled feed, prob will all burn the same time per bag unless the pellets are very small. Like Barefoots.
my P61A ate them like candy last year..

Reactions: Bucks Pellets
Keep us posted. I was very tempted to make my last ton purchase to be the AWF softwood, but heard too many reviews mention a sooty burn. I went with the Lignetics and am pleased.

Interesting. I have experienced the opposite, my P61a was fairly conservative eating FSU's (small) using room temp / manual, during the couple of weeks of really cold/windy weather recently. It went thru anywhere from 1 to 2 bags a day (definitely not more than 2). Now I am back to using Curran's (long pellets) for the Harmon and it eats those like candy. I am going thru 2+ bags a day to keep the basement to the same temp - when it is up to 30 degrees warmer outside.

what temp did you set it at and what fan speed?
I was at 75/room temp manual/ full fan speed.
using O'Malley's and Energex Golden pellets.

About 73 room temp, manual - high fan speed. I'm thinking it is because of the difference in pellet quality - the FSU's are so much better in heat output and lower ash than the Currans so the stove ends up idling a lot during the day. Then, it doesn't take much when it has to actually ramp up at night to keep the basement warm since I never let the foundation cool off. Even though there is a bit of air filtration from the garage, the 650 sq/ft.basement shouldn't take more than a bag/day at the temps we have had the last couple of days (I saw an actual positive number this morning at 1F). Okay, sure, some of that heat goes upstairs, but not much since I have the Hastings keeping those 950 sq/ft warm.

Most likely, if the long pellets were of the same caliber as the FSU's (laugh it up, you get so much better pellets than I have ever even see), then I might have the same experience as you.

White bag, Green Letters... Start hard, burn good though, longest avg pellet in my experimental fleet...

right now burning Okanagan platinums
I picked up a little mix from the same guy. I liked the AWF white pines best. Just don't know if they are worth $40- $50 a ton more. Much less impressed with the Okie golds..... Very nice guy which made it kinda worth the drive for me.

yes..
okie golds had some good heat but I noticed sandy feeling ash..
Patinums great heat low ash but too pricey.
tryin a bag of AWF now while it's still cold tonite..
still have Dry creek and freedom fuel to get in before warming weather.

Don't be in a rush for the freedom fuel. Though maybe your push feeder will have better luck.
