Meh! They burn, But unless left with no other option I would not be all that interested. Not for the cold spells anyway!

PASS....unless you have nothing else.....I think a couple people actually like them though...lol

purchased 10 bags last year because the stash was to low and should of used oil instead. they had low heat with a ton of ash I was burning on low and left a black mess in my stove I would NEVER use them again. Would rather heat with oil then use that brand. But thats my opinion you should try them first before you buy them better to waste money on 4 bags then 4 tons again my opinion on them in my stove let us know what you do

I'd try the Dry Creek.. You don't have a Lowe's or HD near you? Most of them are carrying an assortment this year...Lowes is selling Premium (Amer. Wood Fibre), Timber heat (Dry Creek), Greene Team, and a few others, and HD has been carrying FSU, Stove Chow, or PrestoLogs.

I had excellent luck with the PTL. I bought 25 bags more(all I could find) for this season too!

A combo of the PTL's and the Dry Creek would work for me.

In a pinch this winter I had to buy two tons of North American Pellets. Biggest mistake I ever made Had to do a complete clean out every three days. Been using pellets for about 14 years and have used several brands of pellets and these are by far the worse. I normally clean stove about every three weeks in hard winter and now it is down to every three days, Only have half a ton left and then will never use them again. Terrible

Ditto on what Captain Kirk said. This is all I have left from last year. Its not too bad since I only burn one bag a day now with higher temps. Couple more days until spring.

I thought Green suckpremes were bad but I think North American are worse the ash is fill the tray in three bags.

Shoot I still have 15 bags left...but on a serious note, my first year burning pellets so I used what HD and Lowes had so I guess mostly I burned low quality stuff. Still love it though.

I share your disdain for these pellets. In the 5 years I have owned and operated my Fahrenheit Endurance 50F wood pellet furnace, I had never experienced auger jamming and other burn issues (ashy/dirty) as I did with these pellets. I unfortunately bought a ton mid-Winter (thinking they'd be a good option as a hardwood/softwood blend), but after having to remove duct work and take my furnace apart to clear out a jammed auger, I returned the 36 remaining bags to my local TSC and exchanged them for a ton (bought an extra 14 bags to round off the ton) of Green Supreme which are vastly superior to the North American Pellets in heat output, pellet size, and clean burning. I'm not sure of whether or not I just had a bad batch (pellet quality varies greatly even within the same brand), or North American pellets are just awful across the board in every case. I haven't read much positive feedback about North American pellets on other sites/forums.

I have had good experiences burning North American.

I burned 22 bags of NA back in late Feb to early March and can confirm that they are ashy. I can see where certain stoves wouldn't be happy consuming these, though the Harman system takes them in ok. Additionally they leave enough residue on the pot to scrape daily besides the several ash removals off the pot daily. Nations Choice are just as ashy if not more and even less heat with even more deposits, FWIW. And yes, this years GS were superior to either brand by a small margin. But they all heated my house.

I'm burning LG right now and there is no comparison between LG and any of those but they cost more too.

I burn dry creek products. They have 3 different brands. Dry Creek Premium, Dry Creek Ultra Premium and PA pellets. I have never burned the Ultra but the other 2 burn pretty well.

Currans/north americans are complete and total garbage.
If your stove has an agitator then maybe they will burn ok for you. Otherwise its holy ASH. Take a handfull and drop them in a cup of water. I let mine soak about 20 minutes without no effect while others would swell and desinegrate within seconds.
Never will i ever buy them again! Prestos were 20 times the pellet! Hell even penningtons from walmart were much much better! And i can verify its not just a bad batch as i tried them multiple times at diff times from diff places.

Best I can say is if you had trouble with NA don't buy Nations Choice, their even worse !
