Brand new to the forum. Just purchased a fixer upper near Lake Chautauqua and looking at two different NG stoves as supplemental heat. Would like to know if any members can sway me one way or the other on the Jotul Sebago vs Avalon Tree of Life. They are about the same cost and appear to be similar in regards to efficiency and output. Don't have access to warranty information except I read neither one of the companies is that comprehensive. Any thoughts?

I have sold, serviced & Installed the Jotul GF400 Sebago, & I personally think it's the nicest of the Jotul gas models.
At 32K BTU input with a 50% turndown, it fits a LOT of different rooms.
I have worked on exactly ONE Avalon that belongs to a friend of mine.
It seems like a fine product, but I don't profess to be any sort of expert on the brand.

Hi Daksy! I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I talked with another dealer who felt they were both solid units, although felt the Jotul was a little more bullet-proof. I love the look of the Avalon but my common sense says to go with the Jotul...your comment of having sold and worked on them before cinched it for me. Can you help me out a little on the price we were quoted? Price of stove itself is $3,119 minus a credit of $500 end of season floor model, plus $399 for prem upgrade kit (blower/remote, light and flame control-not even sure what that is), $464 for pipe and materials (horizontal install) and $600 labor. So, with the tax it's about $3373 for the installed unit. We will have this installed in Ashville NY...near Chautauqua Lake.
I haven't been around the product for a couple of years now, so I can't tell you how the pricing is.
I think maybe I'd hold off on the blower & see how the unit works without it.
Ceiling fans & box fans can really move heated air, & if they aren't that
effective in your particular situation (every home is different), a blower
can be added down the line, & it's not a particularly difficult install...
The only thing I'd clear up is the install. How many hours did they quote you?
If they quoted 4 hours for a two-man crew, that's right in the ballpark...
