The 30 doesnt come with any kind of grate. If there is a grate in there he put it in himself. Also If you have to load the stove every 20 minutes you must have green wood.

Yes, he put the grate in it. I assumed this was part of his "trick" to running the stove. And yes, his wood was green. Had several rounds dumped in the front yard he was splitting before bringing in to burn.

I agree with Charles 1981, I'm about done trying to put people on the right path. Most would rather curse the stove and lose money than to ever admit they were wrong.

I have to deal with this almost everyday! When they say their stove won't work, My Fiskars axe and moisture meter back me up!

As soon as i see they are getting irritated I stop giving advice. People dont like to be told they are wasting their time and money.

Holy crap  I bet he never even read one word in the manual

Never argue with a fool. They just drag you down to their level and beat you with years of experience...

Yeah, and it makes it very hard to get a good nights sleep.;lol

I started to have a conversation with a friend the other day when he told me I better hope my stove lasts because all the new one are EPA regulated.
I played stupid (easy for me to do ) and he went on to tell me all new stoves suck, they don't burn worth a damn. Said we're lucky our stoves are a older and still produce heat. My stove is two years old, BOTH of his are 3 year old stoves.....
He went on rambling about all new stoves have catalytic converters in them, blah, blah, and two other people were listening and agreeing with him. I just told them that they'd all benefit from doing some research on their own.
Wow....Amazing that I guy that heats his house with two stoves has no clue that both his stoves (which he loves) are of the evil EPA regulated generation. Ignorance is bliss.

I'm brand new to these horrible EPA, government regulated burny type contraptions, and unfortunately none of this surprises me. Don't get me wrong, I'm nowhere near being a fan of the EPA but I think for the most part the manufacturers have done a commendable job meeting the guideline AND producing a quality product. I just recently purchased a Hampton HI400 hybrid insert - haven't even finished installing it yet. I did quite a bit of research on different manufacturers, different models and the technology behind them. I purchased the Hampton for many different reasons I won't go into but needless to say I got a lot of advice (opinions) along the way. Even from many that don't even have a gas fireplace let alone a wood burning appliance!!! I heard everything from "what a waist of money, it's illegal to burn wood anymore!" to "the problem with catalytic stoves is that they must be replaced every 5 - 7 years." For those that are wondering, that comment was made by a dealer and NO he was not talking about the catalyst. He told me straight faced that the ENTIRE insert will only last 5 - 7 years!!!!! Believe me, if it were not for my wife and I really liking the wood burning experience (were not planning on burning for primary heat) I may have steered clear of one. Luckily, I also found this site that has provided a wealth of information.

I think part of the problem begins with dealers who only want to sell what they are comfortable with. Then there is the "customer" that just doesn't know any better and doesn't bother to educate themselves. There are the just plain ignorant individuals that can't be taught. There's the ones that "have been heatin' wit wood since before you was born boy!" that flat out refuse to listen. Finally, there are the individuals that are so anti-government that anything and everything is a conspiracy to control the people. To all of the above, I just smile and nod now. For the rest, I say "thank you" for helping provide useful information and who knows maybe someday I will be able to help educate someone who is willing to listen.

Welcome to my world folks.

THE biggest reason i spend time in this and other forums and constantly direct folks to them is to backstop what i try to explain to folks all the time. in hopes that their peers in the woodburning community can by sheer force of numbers assist me into beating it into the heads of folks that you cannot burn wood which still has green leaves on it in a modern appliance (and you sholdnt be in the old tech stoves either).

simple physics of combustion, more water less energy release whether it be a woodstove or anything else dont believe me go pour a gallon of water in your cars gas tank and see what that does for your horsepower. water dont burn!

as for the OP's video, i watched it a while back, steamed me pretty good back then, i kinda chuckle at it now. some people you just wont convince they are wrong. i could bring that stove to my lab connect to a dilution tunnel and burn proper wood in it right in front of him and he'd still not believe it was his fault.

I think for every new stove the manufacture/seller should offer enough seasoned wood to get them through about a week or at least a few loads

When I sold my Lopi Endeavor I included a 1/3 cord of seasoned ash in the sale. I wanted the new owner to get started on the right foot.

What's he talking about when he says double-walled? Is he just referring to the baffle, to fan passages, or to the stovepipe that doesn't burn his house down? Or is it actually double-walled for some reason?

Nice fresh-looking split of wood there.

My guess is that he is referring to the side heat shields which are not evident on his stove.

He hockey sticks, I heat a 2000 sq ft ranch in subzero temps with my NC30. Guy is typical of genetic defect- nothing functioning between the ears, but the mouth works with no control.

not only that you me and everyone else on here could show him how to put like 4 or 5, 5 inch splits in there and heat better than what he's doing.
I guess I was fortunate to learn the benefits of dry wood before I ever got in EPA stove

When you read this, please tell everyone you work with that there is at least one massively happy 30-NC owner on this forum that really really appreciates the fine stoves you and your company puts out! While I've only had it operating since last November and not years and years like some here, the quality of design and construction is evident when it was delivered, when it was installed and especially when it's burning well seasoned wood! The heat is awesome and I wouldn't live without it!

Thanks!
