Sorry if this has been asked before. I thought the dates on the bags was when the pellets were made and bagged? My lowes just got a shipment in of cheat rivers that were still warm with the date of 11/14?

Stored in warm facility maybe?

I find it incredulous that pellets are sold at retail still warm from manufacturing. more likely to have been recently stored outside in sunlight.

I called Turmans once after finding something in a pellet bag that bridged my hopper. Gave them the date on the bag and was told that is the date the bag company made the bags. Not the date the pellets were made or bagged.

Hu - I've been thinking that was when pellets were made. All the FSU's until a couple of weeks ago were dated 8-14 & 9-14. Other brands haven't had any dates at all. Guess I made a bad assumption.

That is the same thing I always thought until Turmans informed me different.

You think the bags were still warm from the plant??? Think about it..

Yeah, why not? If they are producing and shipping immediately than the bags in the middle may be still warm. Not the first time I have had warm pellets when I bought them.

I had two tons that were still warm this year. They were just delivered that day. Makes sense.

Have gotten semi load from a plant a few hours away, and the bags were still warm. So it does happen. Believe it or not. kap

I got some Green Supremes that were really warm at HD a couple of weeks ago. I just figured they came off a truck and it was warmed from the sun. Didn't realize at the time GS are made by NEWP, which is about 40 miles from where I bought them. Still have a hard time believing they were fresh from being bagged though.
