    Bought five tons of pellets from home depot have always gotten their pellets but this year nations choice is not for me. Burns terrible to much ash. Cleaned ash tray once a week before now three times a week. Had to clean blower motor after burning one ton before after four tons.

I bought ten bags about a month ago to try out and see what all the hype was about. I have only burned "premium pellets" and figured I would give the local HD a try to save a few bucks with my new stove. Those Nations Choice were the crappiest pellets I have ever burnt (again, I would only buy nice pellets so nothing to compare them to). On room temp, I could not get the room hot enough for the stove to shut down, where with my North Country, it would shut down after 20 minutes of flame.

I woke up one morning to pellets over flowing the pot and the ash pan, tried to light them and they wouldn't go. House was 50°F and dropping, I was upset to say the least. Clinkers the size of asteroids. Ash that stuck to everything - almost a daily cleaning was needed. And the cherry on top of the ice cream - they smelled like shavings for a guinea pig. Normally the pellets I burn either smell like a tree or like a saw mill, not like shavings.

Glad I gave them a try, but I would be hard pressed to burn them if there was nothing left out there.

can you mix them with better pellets or are the finally deceased?
 
Just bought a ton. Nothing else to be had. Burned them last night and they were fine. House was nice and warm. Not too dirty.
 
Just got 1o bags at Lowes other day BC home depot was out of the green supremes I like to burn. All in all not bad not great in my stove. I didn't get not clinkers only fine ash and maybe 3 handfuls per bag of ash. There was a lot of fines in the bag though. I wouldntrun for them bbut wouldn't mind them again.
 
One of the top worst pellet's, #1 is Lee Energy's, #2 is Nation's Choice, #3 is North American's, #4 is Green Supreme's, all high ash low heat, only good if it's 50 outside or higher......haha
 
Who rated that it seems different from stove to stove. BC most rate barefoot pellets high and I don't think they worth the bigger money. Me my dad and 2 friends have tried numerous pellets and green supremes are among our favorites. I listen to pellet reviews very loosely BC everyone thinks different ona pellet.

Got 4 bags of Green Supremes the other day - wish I had bought more (like a couple of ton). They were the second best pellet I've ever burned in the Harman. I've burned Currans, Maine's Choice, FSU, NEWP & Vermont Wood Pellet, and rate the Green Supremes just after Vermont WP, with little ash and good heat output. And they were 4.98/bag (less than what I paid for 3 of the other brands)..
 
I have spoken to vendors who tell me they have customers that will only burn GS and I've also read reviewers comments here that hate GS. Could be the stove, proper storage or users but you see this with several brands of pellets. $4.98 a bag for something you like is great and GS pellets are common at HD's.

Of course the Currans were decent last year (and last year's leftovers earlier this season were fine), but this year their pellets are turds for me. So in the end, it is all a crap-shoot.
 
We always used NEWP which is what GS is. Great pellet. Got stuck with Nations Choice late in the season. Which is OK. Also tried AWF. So far NEWP/GS is my favorite. I have noticed that the overall quality of most pellets has decreased due to demand.
 
I always buy newp,But had a ton with a lot of fines in it.I liked the currans hard softwood mix,burned hot and not a lot of fines.Nations choice reminds me of newp,Just wondering if they weren't made by New England.
 
NEWPS/Green Supreme/Warmfront etc under new ownership since last year. Wondering if changes were made in production by new ownership.
 
I think newp quality control got a little Lax since new owners took over.
