Fair price for a VC intrepid II?

Local dealer (49 miles away) quoted me $1727.10 for either a midnight blue or sand. These two colors he has in stock otherwise it would be $1919 to order a different color. $1599 in flat black. Plus $134 for both heat shields. Excel ultrablack stove pipe complete for about 17' for about $1000.00. does this seem to be a fair price? roben.
 
i just bought my intrepid, standard black paid 1399. (comes w/bottom heat shield) foudn pricing up to 1599.
i dont spend that kind of $ without checking around. do you know all the dealers inthe area? start calling.

i dont thing you want your whole flue to be that stove pipe...but i'm sure someone else will chime in.
 
Look at Roben's address though. I'm wondering if prices are higher on the west coast. I just priced a Defiant at a store near here (Washington state) and it was $2400. The color wasn't mentioned but I'll bet it was black. When we bought our Defiant in 1989, we saved over $300 by getting it out of town. My experience has been that prices are all over the map (pun intended).

I'll do some checking. the only other dealer is no longer stocking VC but I think they can get one. the other 2 dealers are 85 and 95 miles away. I'll call them also. roben.
 
I got a second quote today. $1399 in black with bottom shield plus $85 for back shield. $1799 for enamel plus $85 and 10 percent off for the blue or sand one. I guess those two must be in a regional warehouse. I emailed the other two dealers but haven't heard from them yet. roben.
