Nice score. Those look like some monster straight logs.

As an aside, it just kills me when I see sawlog-sized black locust being used as firewood. I save every bit I can for "outdoor lumber'' - fence posts, boards for raised garden beds, bench slats, etc.

How long are those cut rounds? They seem an odd length...maybe 28" ???

Nice score!

Where did you get that from? I've never seen black locust in CT

I understand your point and wish I had the equipment to make some lumber for BL. I have done much research on using BL for a deck project.

These trees were dropped by Asplundh clearing some local roads power-lines. I cut double length so I can load and get offsite ASAP.

This wood will sit and wait until I finish up with my other stash of Black birch, Ash and maple. One thing I love about BL besides burning it, is I do not have to hurry up and get it split and stacked.

I cut them 34"-36" this allows me to load them vertical in my truck, I can increase my load size this way and also cut and get off site quicker. When I am scronging it is importatant to me to some time get loaded and out ASAP so I can do more trips.

I live in the Farmington River Valley northwest of Hartford, I understand Black locust is found near water.
