Can I use a 6" liner on a Buck model 91?

regency 5100 the techs say you can overheat the stove and crack the top if you run undersized liners
Did they explain why, or detail the conditions under which that might happen? Too much draft, or too little? When you are cold-starting the stove and ramping up temp in bypass, or when the stove is cruising in cat mode? I'd be interested to hear...

no they didnt and i cant figure out why it would to me to small a stack means to little draft and i dont see how that can cause over heating so i dont get it but that is what they said i will have to ask for more details next time i call

If the Buck doesn't have one, I would get the cast flue collar.
